All the dismantling and first fitting pics got deleted by mistake we did this mission last year aswell on mates old 80 for under 1g and thought weid try it on his 105 we put the first basic home setup on all up cost with oil lines with welded fittings water lines exhuast manifold etc was $1000 au .picked it up today from exhaust shop only drove there n back and the turbo is needs fixing blowing oil up the intake prices around $1800 for recond turbo, for a complete kit minus injector pump of a 1hd-t 80 for 1300 but the genuine oil line dont reach because the block dosnt have the holes for them on the right side. the original ct26 we used is of a supra or something and has twin exhaust port were as the landcruiser has one big hole like the manifold.all going turned the pump 1/4 turn test drove not very exciting turned it another 1/2 of a 1/4 geez boy she fairly hoots for a big rig
2nd pic is oil tap in for turbo
3rd is water tap in for turbo

Pic 1 the turbo dump was to bits of plate laser cut the one closer to the turbo had the middle cut out enough for the waste gate and the back bit just had the hole for the exhaust then welded together didnt seem to leak
Pic 2 yes its pvc just to get it 2 minutes down the road to the exhaust shop then got replaced with steel
Pic 3 is some of the new bits the way the std dump pipe is angled out makes the 80 series std pipe stick on the outside the chassis which isnt very cool to bring the exhaust back in to go out the back might just have to get the pipe to dump at the back door

The metal heater line just above the waste gate in the 1st pic had to get chopped there as it went metal all the way along/to the back of the block and the wastegate setup squashed on it
2nd pic is the std 80 pipe coming to the out side of the chassis and just misses the floor by a few mm when it idles its dosnt hit bit might when driving under load
3rd finished product minus air box didnt use the 80 series one but i like it how it has the original 90 bend down would be a good lid for a afermarket turbo set up on 7x series too same air box lid as 80 series i think the std set looks neater to
The 105 also has gxl chrome window strips and gxl clip out rear glass gxl mirrors and 06 front headlights n grill
(ps not to sure why the colour is a little funky on the pics not my camera)

also noticed a few differences ont being the rear 2 hole part of the exhaust madifold the 105 series 1hz has this flat part across it were as the 80 series manifold part has a hole bolt like hole
what wound the flat one be for?

The 1HZ 2 piece manifold - the 3 holes are for the heat shield, the 1HDT manifold - i think that is for a pyro or something like that.

Ok thats cool did you drill and tap it ay?
found a pic of 1hd-fte on lcool about the manifold

yes .. I remove the exhaust manifold .. ( WD40 on all manifold studs couple of hours before ) then come it off easy .. but need another pair of hands to put it back .. ( with the turbo attached )

I just learned something I didn't know that the exhaust manifold for a 1HZ and for a 1 HDT were different (2 piece v. one piece) I was always under the impression that this part was shared by both engines, hence I was thinking about searching around for the exhaust manifold from a 1HDT to put onto my new 1 HZ when I'm ready to turbo it.

Mate you can separate both they are all 2 piece and there interchangeable the difference is only between the rear 2 port piece in the turbo 80 vs the turbo 100 and 78/79 on post #4 its circled .
The front 4 port turbo manifold piece has the 4 bolt holes for turbo ,the non turbo front 4 port manifold piece has 3 bolt holes

Ahh I see it now, excellent this opens up more possibilities for finding this in used parts places.
Thanks!

just took these pics the other day of my mates new exhaust
3" with two hollow see through hot dogs

Did you get the turbo oil problem sorted?

It looks like your turbo hasn't been clocked properly, the drain isn't at the bottom and doesn't look particularly free flowing.
Most turbos that spew oil do so because they can't drain. Not because there's anything wrong with the turbo.

post up some video of how she runs/sounds!

i have to come around mate and have a look if you dont mind

ill be doing the same next year
He said last week he want to sell it and get a petrol 105 series

the turbo he got a brand new one put on and runs good and seems to have no draining probs or oil leaking issues

It is 100% better to drive compared to when it was n/a you dont have to put your foot into it hardly as much just let the turbo take you along, specialy off road from running out of power doing circles in 1st to holding 2nd no worries and it does sound good straigh out the pipe whislin away, having it profeshly tuned made heaps better to but sorry no vids ,mates lazy and dosnt go off road much to get vidz
