My accessory hitch... all in 1/4" the anvil from my logo. Still gotta clean spater but just threw it down. Not going anywhere... huge bent rods for saftey chains and the receiver tube is half open on the bottom so if it does get packed with mud you can push it threw. And nothing hangs below the frame. 14 bolts hold the bumper on. All factory so far except for two 1/2" bolts on each side, 4 total. And they go through two factory holes that you need to continue through the outer frame wall. Solid!! I may have it on and painted tomorrow to show what it looks like without swingouts. I still have to set those up.

Happy friday

Im not sure how much it weighs but i just put it on myself. I incorporated tabs that go into the rear frame rails to help hold the bumper up while you startvthe screws. Worked out well
Here are the two extra bolts i added.

bumper doesnt move. I might try jacking under the wing with the high lift of curiosity..before i add any support to those. Im pumped! I finally have a bumper on the back of my truck! Cant wait to finish and paint it!

Yup!! Its strong! 60" highlift jacked til my coils spring is loose! And the bumper just touched the flair. Ill take it. Ill still put a brace but im happy with that! Bring the adventure and the rocks!

You can see the rust where the spring lifted off the pad. Time for spring keepers. Or slinky's!

looking very nice, I like your anvil.

I am wondering what it would look like with some additional tube protection on the wings. Also, are you thinking about incorporating your bottle opener into the rear too?

Im posting in stages to show what it looks like with and without things. Ill be adding some tube work . It seems like it has to have the opener. lol funny thing i dont really drink although i do love craft root beer...

someone asked this:

So what's the plan for the spare tire when choosing the no swingout builds? Seems like the hitch brace would prevent the stock spare location, but maybe I'm not looking at it right.

That postion of the hitch brace is back like that on mine cause i was looking at possibly adding a rear storage space in that area on the bumper . I also pulled down my stock tire carrier because i have someone that wants provisions to mount a extended range fuel cell/tank. Im also planning on setting up for a rear winch . So i need all the area open for mock up. If someone wanted to order a bumper with no swingouts i could easily bring the hitch brace back towards the rear. And you could leave your stock tire in its place. Or.... i was thinking i would look into possibly making a new cross bar that raises the stock spare tire lift. To give you a little extra clearance under the tire. I can build to suit most needs if you are interested on one with out swingouts. Im thinking for the ones with out swingouts ill put some nice aluminum checker plate down like kaymar does on the top surface as it makes a nice standing area to access the back of your roofrack. Or a texture coating. Grey would look nice on a black bumper. Its really up to the end user... thanks for the questions and input.

Sorry for the delay on pics for those following this bumper build. Ive been waiting on latch samples. And working things out. putting a lot of thought into the function of the swingouts. I have about 4 more latches coming in on Thursday. These are what i have now. The one with the red handle is a nice locking latch thats made in italy that i really like, but not so much for a swingout.ill definitely find another use for these. The others you've probably seen. I think im settled in on a rotary style slam latch but not the one in the pic. Thats a bear claw latch by autoloc . Maybe i got a bad one but im not satisfied with the quality of this piece. The material thickness is a little thin for my liking and the springs are already rusted before even being put into service...the ones i have coming in are of a higher quality and the material thickness is 10 gauge for the housing of the latch. Double the size of this one. I got a few different styles from them. Aside from strength and form. Function of the swingout is a main focus for me. I dislike the Destaco clamps on my 60 and havent really been to impressed with other offerings ive come across that are affordable anyways.
With having two kids under 3 i really want 1 handed operation and ease of use for me and my wife. Ill use a gas piston to hold it open and maybe add an adjustable limiting strap or something to control how far they open. Another cool thing about the rotary is i can set the swingarms inboard of the rear bumper face. Everyone elses bumpers the swingouts are even with that back face and i think it looks better with them inboard to break it up and not look so boxy from behind. And gives a nice side profile. Plus kind of a first step to getting up to the ladder. Here are the latches and i also reprofiled the corners of the bumper again slightly. Lol. Cant leave it alone. Ill post pics of that later. Again sorry for the delay. But i want to be as happy with this rear bumper as i am with my front.
Probably should have put something in for scale but the red handled latch measures 9" from catch to handle.

Looks great!

I'm curious to see the other bear claw latches you get,
I use the autoloc for my 100 series bumpers and had the opposite impression comparing to others I had ordered.
Only time will tell how it holds up but I did talk to the guys at autoloc and the latch has a lifetime warranty, he also said that particular latch has been around for 20 years so that was good to hear when designing a swing out around it.
Like you said, maybe you got a bad one? Or I got a good one.
Hopfully the later is the case as I have 30 sets on order :)
It was definitely tricky making the rotary latch work but the end result was worth it!

Keep up the good work!

Ben.

Thanks Ben! I was actually going to pm you the info once i confirmed there quality. Ive been following your work on here and expo as well. You have a great eye. Your 100 series rear is on point! Love the side profile. Keep up the good work as well! The latches should be here today or tomorrow. I have 6 samples coming. Ill be in touch..

May or may not be possible with the swingouts or desired with the use of the box beam, but a slight forward angle to the corners of the vertical rear face always looks nice.

You might like this better. I do! I cut the bottom squared corners off the underside of the back off the wings. Looks much better now from all angles of view especially the side view! The passenger swingarm is shown here. I still need to radius the gusset i added to the double shear mounts so it doesn't look so boxy. excuse any imperfections there's been lots of changes and i havent cleaned it up. Ive made good progress and im excited about the latching and how easy the swingarms are seeming like there going to work. Still one piece of the puzzle left that i may just have to make as im having a hell of a time sourcing this item. But here are a couple pics showing the newest corner profile .

Also here is a shot of the latest bottle opener that is under the driver side wing. Its cut from stainless flatstock. My lathe access is limited now. So im not turning these at the moment. Hence the new flat design. It works awesome and looks clean.

Please can we have a few more close up photos of that bottle opener and the weld around it?
