As I completed my disc brake swap, I was wondering what to do with my left over drum brake spindles and hubs and misc other parts.

I figured out a use, a dirt screener motion generator.

It was made from............

73 Hub and spindle, with a 72 olds waterpump pulley welded to the backside
80 Donor rotor for spindle mount
68 Chev springs
Used shrimp pot puller engine
A bunch of left over scrap metal

It works well despite being crude in design and engineering. I can do 3 yards in 5 minutes. It runs about 50 rpm. I have added some protection against my rotating weight from taking trip off the hub and flying through thte air towards me. I also added a 1/4" plate "box" aorund the engine to protect it from large rocks etc.

I know most of you are creative and fabricators so I thought I would post this.

Besides it IS Cruiser related, and I know you all love PIX.

thats cool!

I had wanted to build something like this once. Your masterpiece is far more ingenious that my ideas. Excellent work.

Does it work??

I use the outer radius on the turned end of the brake drum to radius bend 1/2 tubing to replicate the rear wheel well openings.

Spindles make good candlestick holders.

A locking hub in the middle of a tire carrier makes a great starting point for hoisting a tire up while you're trying to find the lugnuts on the tire carrier.

And you can always knock out the wheel studs to carry as spares for the rear axle.

I added a second screen that is attatched on 1 end so it kind of "flops" on top of the bottom one. The improvement in screening is huge.

It works great. The "tensioner" was my biggest concern. But it keeps the bellt tight enough and it does not come off. Home made deep goove pulley and a couple of bungee's.

I wanted it to be as simple as possible.

Found this today. I was looking to make a soil screen. Just had to bring it up to 2014. Very cool! Off topic but it does have mud and cruiser parts.
