A/C for HZJ75 - where to find? (1 Viewer)

Hi guys

Let me introduce myself: I am 34 and own a 1993 HZJ75 since about half a year. In about 1.5 years I want to do a big trip (complete america continent) with it and am pretty new into all this Diesel stuff! I am a big fan of musclecars (Mopars) and work also since many years on them and can say I am a pretty know personality in the Mopar scene. So this HZJ75 is for me a totally new challenge, but I am willing to learn!

I found this forum a while ago and although we got a very strong german Land cruiser forum I still am used to the english car forums from my musclecars...

I am searching right now a way to upgrade an AC system to my HZJ but everyone tells me that's not possible because Toyota doesn't sell this anymore or if they offer it, they want such a high price that it's ridiculous! So I am looking for other options. I couldn't find any adresses in Australia. Does any of you guys know a good adress in the US or Australia where I could find such an AC system?

You are getting bad advice, I have a number of HZJ models and I recently took one over to a my local A/C shop and they were able to get me a new A/C pump that day for it. A/C is not rocket science and although the A/C pump bracket is specific to the 1HZ everything else is common. Oh and just so you know the 1HZ engine is still in production and is sold on 2010 HZJ76's as well as other Toyota Models so you can still get everything that is needed from Toyota. PM me and I can give you more information and help you if you are looking for A/C for the HZ cruiser, no worries

thnx guys! You give me hope! I also thought a HZJ78 A/C should also fit more or less on a HZJ75 right? I mean, the engine part is almost sure the same. Maybe on the radiator something changed and also on the air system inside but that you can get surely new from Toyota? But really, I asked a few specialists here and all gave me prices that costs more than half of the car or told me it's not available anymore... and as I like to do things myself and search for other solutions I landed here and I have not been dissapointed!

I think the problem is that the 70-series in Western Europa in general had no A/C. I've been looking into fitting an A/C to my rig some years ago, but gave up. All I could find then was a unit in southern France and the seller......well let's say.......uuhhmm, didn't sound very trustworthy and asked a lot of money. So I gave up. Meanwhile the location for the A/C compressor has been taken by the hydraulic pump for my MM-winch, which is a good alternative in certain conditions...

My 4 friends with 3x HZJ75 and 1 HZJ78 all got A/C from the factory, European HZJ version. I am the only without

I got an offer for a complete A/C system for a HZJ78, 1 month used. Question now is if besides the 24V->12V issue (that I surely can handle) I can make fit this system to my HZJ75?

If I look in the EPC, the partnumbers I find for the A/C parts (compressor, piping, condensor etc.) are listed to be for HZJ7#, meaning they should fit for HZJ73, HZJ75, HZJ78 etc.

So yes, the HZJ78 parts may fit in a HZJ75, however......I cannot guarantee that they will !!!!

welcome to IH8MUD! i will be in search for a AC system down the road for my 89bj75 or **hz79. keep us informed on AC contacts. i will try to retrofit my 85bj60 into the 89bj75 but i want to to add a turbo first.

My KZJ70 (UK) is fitted with A/C, I only need it a week maximum being in the UK , guess that was an optional extra, why didnt the orginal owners put lockers in instead..

I have some a/c parts at my shop , in malaysia is very common and all the land cruiser come with denso a/c . Which i have stock compressor , evaporator, condenser and valve.
