Sorry for another A/C question. I did a search but I did find what I needed. When my converted A/C clutch kicks on and it makes a serious whining groaning noise that I feel I can hear through the speakers as well as outside the truck. Any ideas? I was thinking the bearings on the compressor but not sure.

My previous('85) 60 had then same thing, took it to the service guy(who farmed out A/C work), asked them to inspect and replace the compressor if necessary, figuring they'd jump at the chance to sell me a new one(what I really wanted) but instead they sent it back saying there's nothing wrong. The noise was kinda scary, but it never blew up or failed, and it cooled well.

Check Idler Bearing

There is also something called an Idler Bearing that can seize. You need to check this and see that it rolls smoothly. If it's tight you should replace it.

HTH

Thanks guys. I have the morning off so I will check the Idler Pulley bearing and the belt. I think the compressor is fairly new but I had it recharged and that is when my problem started. I will keep yall posted. Thanks again.
