I want to add a/c to my LJ77. Does anyone have pictures of the engine compartment showing the 2LT engine and the a/c compressor?

I' m thinking of an aftermarket a/c but would like to see where the compressor is located.

Thanks

Here are a couple of photos of a 2L-TE in the LJ78, it should be very similar. The compressor is located on the RH side of the engine just under the intake hose to the turbo. The last one is missing the air filter housing and gives a better view of the AC compressor.

AC was offered as a kit option on some markets I guess. I found an 1986 AC kit leaflet in Australia for Bundera (thats lightduty 70 with early 2lt engine).

the hard to get components are compressor bracket and evaporator. the dash air selector is same part between rhd and lhd, just flipped upside down. its the switch you want really, ac one is different.

or, italy and spain markets had a "custom" local variant, with ac actuated on a normal switch. (where the blank is)

So the compressor goes above the alternator?

It will be a tight fit.

I don’t know about the A/C on an LJ but on a normal 70-series an FJ60/62 compressor bolts right up and here in the USA you can get a remanufactured one for under $300.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a 22R compressor bolted in the LJ’s.

Cheers

Thanks
