So I drove the cruiser to work today. On my way home I ran the A/C. It was in the low 90's out and the drive is about 45 minutes. I saw temps between 42 and 46 degrees. While not as low as I had hoped for, I'm good with it for now. I got other projects I would rather work on so we're going to call this one good for now.

Thanks everyone.

Yes!

If we average it (44° F) vent temp and the ambient was say 92° F. then you had a 48 degree drop (vent temp) from ambient. I can't imagine that anyone wouldn't think that didn't feel cool.

Sometimes folks get fixated on a 'number' or read of an account where someone else is getting 2-3° F cooler vent temps.

Yours is doing fine. Many folks would like to have a system doing that well.

Unless you just have nothing else to do....I wouldn't chase after the last 2 degrees your system 'might' be able to do.

One more thought:

Can you hear/feel (should get an audible "click" while driving, and also feel rpm's change at idle) the compressor cycling?

That's a pretty good quick-and-dirty test of your system: Periodic cycling (every minute or two) means system is about as good as it's going to get; no cycling means you're likely low on refrigerant and performance is compromised.

Cycling as expected. Again, thanks to all.
