FWIW profit is 7kish at MSRP
old ones had 10k profit in em.
18" wheels I think, runs on reg not premium. Lots of neato nav and DVD stuff.
Dash is layed out different(I like the new gauges)

A family friend after drooling after my '98 for years, bought their '04 cruiser, well it has bunch more electronic gadgets but from a pure cruiserhead perspective, I would get a nice low mile '98 UZJ100 and '97 FZJ80 for the same price or cheaper than a brandnew '04.

When I bought my '98 UZJ100, I parked next to a '04 and couldn't find the extra $40K they ask for the new one. They are nice though, if money was no object...
the 04 has the rear camera too with the Nav system as an option I believe. I would like to have that. May save a kid someday...
the 5 speed is terrific. Much better than the older. It feels much peppier to me even though the HPs are about the same.
I would stay away from the 18" wheels option if you plan on doing offroading at some point.
Oh, get the tow package option...

The new 04's have alot of newer electronic controlled goodies including........up hill assist, down hill assist, tire pressure monitoring, rear video w/nav, numerous cup holders, curving headlamps, seat heaters, inverter, etc.
The 5-speed tranny is awesome - drove a the GX470 the other day, and the tranny just shifts so smooth, keeps pulling through all the gears, etc.
It also has some type of "active suspension" system as an option, can't remember the name / but complicated system
Also has a nice price tag................add 10 to 12K for the 470
