Hey guys,
Need some help on how to remove the hood struts. I saw an older post that says you have to unscrew the base from the fender and then the hood so it comes off as one unit. True? Can I not reuse the ends where the ball joint slips in?

I ask because the replacements I got from checker didn't come with any additional hardware besides the strut itself.

Thanks in advance. Hope I'm not screwed.. I may have lost the receipt.

Thx,
Superflo

Depends on the size of the replacement ends I suppose. I know both the Toyota and Mr. Lou kits come with them because they're considered wear parts and you replace them as a set. If you want to return yours to checker, here's the link for Mr. Lou. I've not used them but many others have reported success:

Lift Supports Systems | Hood | Window | Trunk | Hatch | Auto Parts By Lou

I went with a Mr. Lou set. They came in two days from Cali, and included all required hardware. Find that receipt. Skol.

Cool thanks guys. I actually almost got them from Lous but decided on Checker since they are are nationwide and would be easier to return things to or warranty items through. Ha.
