98,99- is one better? Why?

I want the rear locker because I am assuming that it is better offroad

and I now would also look at 2000 (ATRAC), in large part due to your (Shotts) posts.

Gotcha. That was what I was figuring though better to ask than assume. :)

Of course the wallet many times dictates what we can buy. I would encourage you to consider making the squeeze up to a 2000 model. If you can't, you can't. It will:

Do as well with TRAC (or maybe better) off-road (depends on terrain)
Be safer (VSC)
Be a better DD because of the above. Don't know where you live, but if it's wet, snowy or icy I'd want my wife in the 2000. Again, if possible.

Well, I am definitely considering 2000s. I happen to be fairly interested in a 99 right now, but it (supposedly) has LOTS of PM done, and is (again, supposedly) in great shape. I hope to see it this weekend. I definitely respect your opinion regarding the TRAC, but at the same time, I feel like my 80 is very stable in snow, ice, etc, and it does not have TRAC. Snow and ice are definitely conditions that we deal with here in ND. I would say that, all else being equal, after reading up on it a bit, I would take a 2000 over a 98, 99. BUT, if I find a 99 that is in great shape, tons of (expensive) PM done, etc, I'll take it over a similar 2000 without the PM. Thanks again, Dan.

I live in North Dakota. I will be traveling to Arizona soon, driving home in two weeks. Hoping to pick up a rust free 100 and tow the 80 home with it. Are you selling one?

When considerign one for the wife and myself I only looked at 2000+ they are all droping in price now, just be patient and get the one with more safety features. When considering keeping your family safe is it really worth saving $2K or less? (You can add a rear locker later, but you cant add VSC or ATRAC.)

I have seen 2000's for $12-15K. Wish I had the $ now as I got a guy down to $20K on a '03. We decided to wait until after the baby is here b/f we do anything. Who knows.

FWIW - I think calamaridog may still have his 2000 for sale at $12K? Great deal for someone! It's listed in the classifieds.

As far as I know its still for sale.

I have seen Calimari's. I am really looking for more of a totally stock cream puff.

Yes, Hello.

I purchased a 99, with rear air, 3rd row, rear locker, white etc. I was able to find it a year ago with 21k original miles/1 owner.
I too was working off your totally stock cream puff theory. I heard that the 98's were more prone to rattles, for what thats worth.

I love my 99!

totally stock cream puff theory is now changing to semi stock cream puff theory.

Good Luck

I have a 99 LX470 for sale in Spokane, WA. Total stock cream puff. Has a set of studdless snows mounted on a set of factory alloys for those of us in snow country. However, they do not salt the roads here in WA so we don't have the rust issues that many have.

I have seen your ad, looks like a beautiful clean rig- but waaaay out of my price range. I'm thinking around $12k (or less would be even better). Thanks, Dan.
