moms 97 FZJ, rear wiper don't work, the squirter does though. Checked the fuse, it was OK.

I kinda doubt its the motor, it doesn't get used much and my dealer has NEVER sold one.......

I am gonna look at the wiring where it goes into the bottom door...maybe something got buggered up.

but as always looking for idea's

John

actaully which fuse is for the rear wiper?

John

Check the pivot point where it comes throught the body. I have seen these freeze up and stop the motor. If this is the case you can sometimes run some penetrating oil down the shaft and get them to turn again. Seen this twice in the last three months.

Mine had not fully stopped, but was real slow, so I removed the arm and the shaft had some rust on it, lubed up the shaft and its working like new again.

OR

Sure sign of hatch rust, best to just replace moms whole hatch ...... and ummmm, send me the old one for aaaaaa research purposes :D

Lessee, your Mom's rig is a 40th..original owner...responsible female owned. He can have the hatch, I'll take the rest of the truck for "research purposes". I'll even post a FAQ on "How to replace a rear hatch". Promise. ;-)

I'll take a gander at it again, but there is no rust on this 80.

so is the wiper fuse the wiper fuse for the front and rear or just front. or is the rear wiper tied into another fuse?

The fuse under the dash in the panel is for BOTH wipers.

took another breif look this morning. the arm/pivot is not frozen up. When I turn on the switch I can hear something click in the motor or relay in the hatch.......so its getting juice.

guess I will pop the cover and test the motor someday.

would be odd that the motor is dead though.

John,
check the connection from the relay to the motor. there is a two or three wire connector wrappe din foam (in my 92 anyways) that had worked loose and became dry, little bit of grease and now it works fine.
