What to do in a case like this: <http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/3190945682.html> I saw the guy, drove the thing, engine pulls strong but slight drip under front. Looks nice inside and out. He agrees to an inspection, later emails me saying I must give him $7000 and THEN have it inspected, he doesn't have time. I should just forget it, but is there anyone around here (Seattle) who can do an on site evaulation? It might be an easy fix and good candidate for mods. I'm just not knowlegeable enough to make the call.

I would run. Anyone who won't work with you on that is not someone you should be buying a car from, EVER.
It's been a long time since I last bought a car and encountered the sometimes dodgy characters
in the event some red flags go off when you take it to the mechanic to inspect it, you have no power (court, lawsuit bs, but the reality is in the short term, no power). he has your money and you hae the car. basics of the transaction already have been completed. item for consideration. small deposit (500 dollars or so) would be understandable.
Id say walk. another one will pop up. longer you wait, the more you see, the more selection you have, which gives you the pick of the litter.
