trying to add some company for the 60...need some help from the experts here. I looked at a 1997 LX450 today, 80,000 miles, front and rear lockers, excellent condition. We're having it checked out by our mech tomorrow and will probably buy for $17,250 if all checks out. This sound like a good deal to you guys?

Well, I paid $16800 for a similar rig a couple of months ago. Prices in Idaho are higher then I've seen talked about elsewhere, on this site. I didn't mind paying a bit more for a low mileage rig, but others might.

If there are a lot of cruisers/450's for sale in your area, then it's too high. If not, then it's an OK price.

HTH, Tom

Seems high to me. I paid less then $14K for mine. I would say $16K is probably the limit I would go.

This thread is useless without a picture. Show us some pictures and we will tell you if it is worth 17,250.

I just bought a 96' 80 with 77k without lockers and moonglow color, which I really like, for $17.5k. 80's in the pacific northwest are really expensive. There is a local one similar to mine in the Autotrader for $17.9k and 122k miles, also another local one is going for $18.5k and 87k miles. Sounds reasonable if the interior, exterior, and mechanical checks out.

Welcome aboard newb :flipoff2:

Never, never, never ask that question.
Where do you live? Location/Region has a lot to do with prices.
How much can you afford? How much are you willing to pay? That's a factor too, in my book.

Some will be willing to pay more, some would never consider paying as much as you would. If you like it, get it.

You didn't ask the worst possible question though -- "Did I pay too much?" :D

Got pictures of it? If so, post 'em up. It might help with a guesstimate. What's blue book these days for it?

I asked the worst possible question and got some good response. If I would have known about this forum I would have asked prior to buying.

More information on the vehicle does help especially the area as some places have limited 80's/LX450's and prices are higher.

The local market dows vary the price quite a bit. The 80's I looked at in Denver were above $16K. Thats why I bought mine in Texas after research and having it inspected.

Ahhhh, nothing like a drive from Dallas to Denver to let you know your vehicle. It was awesome!

Thanks for the input, and sorry for being a newbie...I guess you have to start somewhere. I did buy it and wow is this rig beautiful, no leaks, no drips, absolutley perfect, I'll try and post some pics this weekend.

the sad news is that now the 60 has to go, check the for sale forum if your interested.

Congrats. All that matters is if you are happy with the puchase, not what anybody else may think.
Cheers,
Sean

Congrats..... :bounce: As long as you are happy, price is irrelevant. I'm a newbie too and just picked up a 96 FZJ 80 LC two days ago here in Alaska for 15K, had 113,700 miles. No buyers remorse whatsover! I posted pics in thread "Great information and laughs too". I'm lovin' it. People tend to hold onto to their 80's here, so there aren't many available, hence the higher prices too (economics 101 - the old supply and demand). It is a solid vehicle.

Great choice. Enjoy and welcome :flipoff2:
