I have a lead on a local factory locked rear axle from a 97 and wanted to know how straight forward a swap would be into my 91 FJ80? From what I have heard you unbolt the old and bolt in the newer one, then add later model e-brake cables. What would I need to activate the locker? I did look through a few articles that didn't quite answer the last part of my question.

Use google to search Q on mud. Several threads on wiring. Knowing you dont have a center diff to lock in your 91, no need to go OEM route. Relay/switch is the way to do it.

It does have a center diff lock. What does that have to do with the rear locker? Will try the search again.

I've understood it to be a bolt in affair with the later ebrake cables (I have a FF axle to put in my 91) and 16"+ rims.

On my 2nd gen 4runner crawler I run LP 8in elockers fr/rr and use Lowrangeoffroad Elocker Switch with diy wiring to run them. Been solid for over a decade and imagine would be workable for a 9.5in setup.

Apparently, it is out of an LX450 that was wrecked. Basically an 80 series Land Cruiser so it should bolt in. I am a bit concerned about how to hook up the locker. Some threads are mentioning an ECU or something? Seems like you would just run some power to a switch to turn it on or off. Slee has a switch for the dash. Anyone know about this ECU or controller?

Trail Gear offers a plug & play elocker harness. Bit of a rip I think, but it might make sense to just get it done if you're not good with wiring.
