Well I would recheck the Pin 7 mod making sure you disconnected the proper wire. With the proper mod done shifting into low should see no changes to anything, If you pulled the wrong wire that could be impacting the ABS ecu.

You need to rid yourself of the ABS light on. If need be, remove the CDL switch, put the jumper back in then start debugging the ABS system.

Just ran this procedure on the ABS control relay:

Terminals A7−1 and A6−3: Continuity
(Reference value 80 Ω).

There is no continuity however there is ~80ohms of resistance?

I'm not sure you think I did the 7 pin mod wrong? I can control the CD with the CD button on the dash in Low and High range.... I know I did it right, as I followed the Slee guide and double checked on the spot. 👍

Hey folks - was there any resolution from the original poster back in 2013?
I am having the exact same issue with my '97 80 series, went through the same steps. No codes when jumping the diagnostic ports, and ABS light staying on.
I did remove one connector on ABS relay in the engine bay, and the light went off, but that could mean I've just broken the circuit and the problem is still there.
@DLPDLP what did you end up doing.
Many thanks!

My constant on turned out to be a broken wire. I was getting a "replace computer" error code. After putting in $20 used one I finally got a code that pin pointed the wire fault.

Thanks @Mat Jadamec - do you mean you put in a used ABS relay or ABS ECM to get the codes? Thanks

I installed a used ABS ECU (or computer), not a relay. Part of the problem diagnosing it was it was an intermittent steady on. I figure the wire was flexing enough to allow the circuit to close and the ABS would work for awhile, and then a good bump or stop would open it again and trigger the light.

Oh man I feel so daft, but I'll own the embarrassment. I guess I completely unhooked the ABS ECU by mistake while taking out the OEM alarm in drivers side kick panel a few months ago 🤦‍♂️. Hooked it back up and the ABS warning light is gone. Lmao time for a Monday beer!
