1. If you are really going to offroad that Mall Queen, get some flex, man. Today is all about the flex....a-r-t-i-c-u-l-a-t-i-o-n:D

2. There is no motor in that rig as far as I can tell.;)

Why specifically a '97?(<<<<<Real question)

first of all that mall queen has a 2f in it and enough flex to make it up the right side of rattle rock ie 8' boulders thanks for the advice thow sounds like you are the expert

Sheesh..............wake up your sense of humor!!! Does that look like a "Mall Queen" to ANYONE???????
Think back...we've done a parts deal before, I think. I thought I had the right to pimp you:confused:
The question about a '97 motor was real.....hence the (<<<<<<<<<<<<real question)

I claim to be an expert at nothing....well maybe teeth, but that's it and I'm not sure about that one, either;)

I am not mad just wanted to prove it had a motor. My current motor is the stock 2f which I have prodly ran for years and most people loved the fact that such a buggy still had a stock motor. But lately it has been holding me back switch ring and pinon to 4:56 just to spin irock's at a decent speed. So I started doing some research on motors. And the 97 vette motor is about the newest Ls motor that is kinda affordalbe. I have also heard the Lt versions are a pain. So selling 2f with 4:70 rockbox served me well but need some more Getty up for the slick rock.but I have no idea what trans to run and was curios what people thought of gearing I should go with in atlas. I think you are mistaken about parts deal. I have bought and sold many parts on this site thow. My name is dave. Did not mean to come off like a d##k but I see alot of slams on this site.

It is all good Dave. I should never venture into Hard Core because I really don't belong here. I've seen flex like your pics...........and I should have married her:D
Nice rig. Sorry for posting useless info......but that's how I roll...sometimes:o

sweet rig man.....how about a 6.0 out of a chevy truck instead of a vette engine? not as light but cheaper and makes awesome h.p. and torque #'s....mate it to a turbo400 or sm465 and a atlas

i will have to give that some serious thought i am not objecting to any motor just want fuel injected and some decent # on the pony range.

1997 is the first generation LS-1. Good motor, low HP numbers. It was rated between 305–350 hp depending on the application. Most have pretty high mileage on them now and they still fetch big bucks.

The best bang for the buck is a Vortec LY4 (5.3) They are a dime a dozen and put out good HP numbers. A set of headers and a computer flash from Jim's Performance and you have a 3 wire hookup and 350 hp for about $1500.

I went with a 6.0 out of a 2007 Silverado. I spend $2000 on the motor. It had $22,000 miles on it. K and N, Computer tune and headers and it is 390hp. It screams.

Standard GM pattern IIRC

yep, they have the same old gm bellhousing pattern....

here's a little more info on the 6.0, i've heard from lots of folks that you can get 400-450 h.p. pretty easy and relatively cheaply out of them....big block performance with small block weight....gotta love it

if your not looking for mad horsepower then a standard 350 on pane might do you right for the least amount of money and hassle

You might be surprised that newer motors go for less in the junkyards. I was intially going for a 5.7 Vortec from something like a '97 truck when I got a '04 5.3 for half the price, with 1/3 the miles.

Here's a small thread I started on another board about my experience with the LS series engines..
