97 4Runner Clock failed

Just bought it last night. PO took great care of it. Clock does not display though. Did a search and came up empty. Is this a common thing? Bad clocks? Other issue?

If you mean the ciggy lighter, that works fine. GPS runs, phone charges, IPOD plays and charges. I will have to pull it and do a PIN test. I just haven't had time.

If you take it out of the dash you'll find 4 springs that maintain contact with the plug from the dash wiring harness. What I found on mine was that the springs were too compressed to adequately press on the pins, I slightly stretched them out and all is well. Well, almost all is well... the clock works unless it's a really cold morning and I have to put on the the windshield defrost, as it warms up, it sometimes konks out.

Thanks, I'll try this when I get a chance. For now I put my street GPS in there, it has a clock but I hate leaving gadgets in the truck when I don't need them.
