Hi there, I have a clicking noise coming from the front left of my truck. Its a 96, 4x4, single cab, 5 speed. The noise only starts at 40mph and above. It is not loud enough to hear when the windows are up, only down. I can sometime hear it at less than 40 if I do a hard turn to the right (putting force on that outside left wheel). I jacked the front of the truck up and there is no play in the wheel (up down or left right). When I spin it, there is some light clicking, but nothing like what I hear when I'm driving. Again, less than 40, its quiet.

From my research, its either a bearing, cv axle, or hub, but I haven't found anything conclusive and don't want to just throw $ at it.

Also, it has 182k miles, so I know some parts are getting fairly worn in.

Thanks!

Probably a CV. Lift the front off the ground and spin the wheel with the steering turned and see if it sounds different than when the steering is straight. If it clicks more when the steering is turned hard it is likely the outer CV.
