96 SR5 Ignition Key Stuck (1 Viewer)

Searched but no joy. Probably a bad combination of search words so seeking guidance.

96 SR5 4Runner with auto trans. Shift lever is sloppy which i suspect is part of the issue. I have to futz around with the lever in park to get the key to disengage from the ignition switch.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I assume a switch somewhere is not making. Any direct knowledge of where that switch is located would be appreciated!

Not sure if this will fix your issue but it may be a good time to replace your shifter bushings!

yes...bushings are on order. I removed the solenoid that is on the bottom side of the ignition switch assembly. This essentially removes the key lock feature in Park.

Is the solenoid you mention part of the lock cylinder - or a separate part??

What part numbers do you have for the shifter bushings?
