96 LX450 Transmission concerns

I've got a 96 LX450, the transmission has me a little concerned, however I don't know if I need be??? Say when I'm coming up to round a corner just about 15-20 mph and I'm coasting, then when I hit the gas to accelerate, there seems to be an intermittent stall where it feels like there's no grab (almost neutral), then it kicks in.

Is this common? Would it maybe just need a trans service?

very common, some have moved the TPS to reduce and maybe eliminate the problem. I had it real bad and it turned out to be a throttle cable was sticking but I also had high rpms occationally that I could associate with the cable.
