after a cold start-up the A/T temp light along with the brake light sometime stay on... the manual says the A/T temp light indicates temps that are too high, does it also indicate temps that are too low... I can hear a whirring sound coming from the the tranny during this time, the sound stops and the lights go out and everything is fine after about 3 minutes..... is this a concern? does it have to do with cooler temps? any advice is appreciated.... thx...MH

Have you checked transmission fluid level and condition? I believe it only indicates high temps. I would say it sounds like a bad temp sensor, but the associated whirring noise has me doubting it...

just had tran fluid & 2 x diffs flushed and changed..... maybe I should drop by a tranny specialist to have things checked just in case!

seems unlikely that it would get hot right after a start though. I am measuring the temp on mine continuously and it takes several miles to get about 120F. You could just touch the cooler lines and the pan and see if they are too hot.

The noise correlation is a bit ominous, though. Is it possible that the noise and "high temp" would be resulting from the pump not pumping somehow and then after a while it kicks in for a while? How long would it take for the ATF to get too hot if it didn't get pumped through the coolers?

Probably electrical?

They got done flushing, forgot which of the identical tubes goes where, and now stuff's going backward through the cooler, or not flowing well? My primary guess is that they did not refill with enough fluid. Be absolutely sure YOU know how to correctly check this, BTW.

common themes on this board are to avoid flushing, avoid trans specialists, check coolant level while the trk is idling on a flat surface.

Have you had your alternator tested? It can cause some wierd warning light issues.

Yes.

No.

With 2 lights coming on at the same time, I would start looking elsewhere. As Moj mentions, it could be Alt or maybe bad battery.
