I have had this issue for a couple of years now and while it only happened originally at less than 10 degrees now it seems to be happening anywhere 40 or below. The car makes a grinding noise when trying to turn over. It then starts up everytime on the 2nd try. This only happens when the car is cold and it is cold out. This has been going on for 5 years and 50k miles now.
I have tried asking a mechanic but they have been unable to replicate it. It happens pretty much every morning now. Has the solenoid failed? flywheel? I am worried with the increased frequency it might start damaging something more.
Here is a video:
Thanks!
