Hi all, I posted this on CL while out west, but it didnt sell before I had to get back home. Now Im back east, took new pics and putting it up again.
1995 FJ80 with 182K - $21,000
The good: This rig is totally built. Triple locked, slee 6" lift. With the exception of the winch (explanation below) she's ready to go. I just replaced the inner axle seals (so no birf soup), and in the process inspected the other seals, bearings, bushings, and birfields - no signs of wear. I also pulled the front diff to replace the seal and the wear patterns and backlash are to spec, very little wear. Interior is in great shape and super clean for its age. Seat covers have been on for years. Never smoked in and no rust. The ARB tent is 5 months old and barely used / super clean. New fluids all around.
The not so good: The chromoly front axles are longer model and the flanges are the short model. The dust caps wont fit on with this configuration, but it really isnt a problem since the hub caps keep the dirt out. You can get a pair of the long flanges for $160 new or next to nothing from a pick-a-part. Exterior cosmetics: Fenders were originally cut to fit different bumpers, so they don't line up perfectly with these bumpers (minor). Coating has come off the slider steps in places and theres surface rust. Roof and quarter panels had a so-so repaint awhile back but is already deteriorating. Chips and imperfections all around. Sides pinstriped from forest trails. No dents though.
The bad:
I did not build this truck. Previous owner had it for over a decade. Over the years he built it up, doing all the smaller stuff himself and having reputable shops do the rest. I have most of his receipts, and pictures of work he did. I just added the tent.
I bought the cruiser specifically for a road trip which has now come to an end. I've put about 10,000 miles on it since Ive had it, about 400 of which were on dirt roads, with about 40 miles of mild crawling. I love this rig but it belongs with someone who can put to good use. I live in Brooklyn, NY where they salt the roads, I dont have a garage, and I'm trying to buy a home - so thats why I'm selling.
There is the possibility of including spare doors, rebuilt engine and transmission in the sale if buyer is willing to arrange and pay for shipping from northern Utah. A few hundred $ worth of diff and wheel bearings and seals included regardless.
I’m open to the possibility of delivery within a day or two drive from NY, but we’d have to discuss the particulars obviously.
