Looking to confirm my hypothesis...
My '94 FZJ80 with 218K miles on the clock is experiencing an intermittent issue where the speedometer on the gauge cluster is not working - the needle doesn't move from 0mph. It doesn't bounce, isn't erratic...it just doesn't move. Occassionally, I'll be driving and suddenly it will start working again. It has been fine for the past month, then this morning on the drive to work it was just reading 0mph.
The issue comes and goes, which leads me to believe it is electrical versus mechanical. Below are the facts:
1. Odometer and trip meter fully functional and accurate
2. Cruise control fully functional
3. No other warning indicators at all - truck runs perfectly
Based on the situation, my hypothesis is that I have a bad connection in the gauge cluster somewhere. I've done quite a bit of searching on the forum and have come across VSS failures, but not this specific issue.
Any thoughts/advice from the forum? Thanks!
