93 vs 96 IGN SW with photo

I have this fairly new IGN SW from the 93 I scrapped out last year and wanted to put in the 96 that’s here in process but I see that the 96 switch includes what appears to be a second lock solenoid. What im thinking is that these locks are for those who care and can be done without.

Does anyone have experience with going from one switch to the other and proceeding without any ignition lock at all?

So what I discovered is that the interface with the column is somewhat different and the 96 switch has about 15-20 degrees less total rotation. Each detent is closer and takes up less rotation. I’ll order a new one. This five year old 1993 switch is now on the market.
