6 months ago I was pouring over these pages trying to find the perfect cruiser, one that I could put some time and effort into to make my perfect rig. I found it and within a few months realized that I have no time to do anything to anything. Since starting back to grad school in the fall, maintaining 40-50hrs a week at work and trying to maintain a marriage, the cruiser is not fitting in well at all! I love the truck but the timing is just not working for me at this time.
It's a 93 FZJ80 with 189,??? on it, green w/ tan cloth interior, NO lockers. Paint is rough, trail striping and the hood is faded but I didn't buy it to look pretty. Frame is solid but would benefit from a rust treatment of some sort. A PO replaced ALL the rear brake lines, hoses, LCV and ALL brake components in 2012. I have receipts for the truck back to the mid 90's. The birfs don't leak, no birf soup, no funky noises etc. The truck runs and drives nicely. The trans shifts perfectly since the cooler hoses and alternator were replaced. The low voltage from the alternator caused it to shift poorly (ie, not shift). New alt, no problem! The interior is in decent shape, no cracks in the dash, carpet is a little dirty but would clean up nicely, 3rd row seats are still in the truck.
I bought the truck in August for a mudder in CT and replaced the passenger caliper before starting the trip home. While in my possession, I've replaced and or bought the following parts:
New passenger side caliper
New front pads (rotors were replaced by a PO w/in 5k miles, no issues w/ them)
New Toyota brake hoses (all for up front) (bought because I was planning on replacing all the hoses and steel lines at some point, not installed)
New Toyota steel brake lines
New fuel filter
New Toyota fuel lines (both side of filter)
New alternator
New belts
New radiator (broke it while replacing alternator
)
New radiator hoses
New Toyota fusible links
New Cooper AT-P 285/75r16 tires (about 300 miles on them tops!)
replaced trans cooler hoses
GM charcoal canister
Clean Cali gas tank w/ clean straps (not installed)
working antenna motor and mast (not installed)
Shiny, rust free upper hatch handle
I removed the crappy factory alarm following the tutorial on 'mud. That coupled with new fusible links fixed the battery drain issue.
The bad....
The engine started making a tick noise from what sounds like the top end and i haven't had any time to diagnose it so I have no idea what's wrong. The power was not affected by the new noise at all, it's just noise.
The sunroof leaked when I got it. I caulked it shut (not ideal but an opening sunroof wasn't important enough to me to pull the headliner down!) and it's been dry since. I pulled the carpet out to see if there was any rust that needed attention and found a little surface rust but no rot. I treated the rust w/ phosphoric acid and rustoleum paint. I did not put the carpet back in because I was contemplating bedlining the floor. I have all the carpet and bits.
That's about it. Please ask any and all questions/concerns! I'll get some better pictures up in the next day or so. Email is best for me

I'd like $3000 but am very willing to negotiate etc. The local Subaru dealer offered me $1700 on trade in towards a new Outback but that just hurts....
