I'm looking to ship an engine across country, PA to CA, but I have no idea what it could weigh. Any ideas what and FZJ80, block & head only with no accessories, could weight ?

Anybody have any connections in the shipping world ? I'm assuming I could have it strapped to pallet and then ship it ?

Thanx in advance.......

I heard right around 680-700lbs

There is a post somewhere on here with one on a engine lift with a scale, but I didn't favorite it...

Did you search, cme4lyt? Most times I use "Lbs" instead of "weight" or "weigh"...

450 pounds for just the short block with no oil pans. I'd say a block/head combo with oil pans would be about 650-700 pounds.

I've always had success shipping engines with Forward Air if the engine is near an airport. Not that expensive. Strap it to a pallet and put some shrink wrap around it.

Thank You everyone. I'm going to go with 700 lbs.

Rgds...

x2 on Forward Air, they are professional and handled my Subtank and Maintank shipment at a very reasonable cost...certainly a complete motor would cost more, but they are worth the call for the cost-savings.

Just shipped a long block. searched all over the net and finally found a weight spec at 587 LBS. W/O accessories. Hope that helps.
