You mentioned earlier that mechanical timing is "way down the list". Keep in mind that this is a tractor motor based on 1986 technology. If the mechanical adjustments are not to factory spec, the ECU and related sensors have a VERY limited window to bring things back. All mechanical adjustments must be done first.

X2 - remember this is essentially a mechanical/analog engine with electronics retro-fitted onto it. Get all the mechanical portions working at least close, or the electronics cant do their jobs.

That's because, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, the first thing done was replacing the long block at customer request, it ran the same on both long blocks.

Okay progress and success. Found out that the Cardone AFM that summit sells is NOT for the 3FE it's for a Ford/Mazda engine. (Even tho it's the first option when searching "92 land cruiser afm" and looks the same, it's not.) This explains why nothing was coming in spec and why after 4 units it's still didn't run right. Found a good used Toyota AFM and now truck purrs like a kitten, rich condition and random miss are both gone.

Case closed, thanks to all who chimed in with info and thanks to this forum for having multiple resources available. Life savers.

I forget which Camry...but The camry AFM works as a replacement for the 92 fj
