Little history. 92 FJ. 180k miles...bought at 177k. Runs great have had no issues other than inner axle seals that I fixed. Did oil change with Wix filter and Rotella 15w40 oil last week. Anyway went to get a Suzuki Samurai Saturday eve. Pulling 18' steel floor car hauler. It actually did better than I expected. Put Samurai on it and it did ok till I got about 4 mi from home and got hot....in the red. Turned heat on and eased up on it and it went back to normal. Today same trailer with some scrap metal on it. Not sure how much....got warm and turned the heat on and it came back down but couldnt keep it down. Overflow bottle has very little in it. Rad fluid checked to be good to -10F and was full. Fan clutch feels great and appears new. No sounds, squeaks, leaks, etc. Any suggestions? We have put 3k miles on it with no trailer and had NO issue.

How much does that trailer weigh?

Does your fan roar at startup and when the engine was hot? If not, drain and add 15k cst silicone to it. I wouldn't worry too much about the 3FE. It is truly an Iron Horse.

Best I can tell it does. That motor is so loud its hard to differentiate the two. What does the 15k cst silicone go in?? You lost me on that. The CF looks new and the bearings feel new and tight.

15k cst silicone goes inside the fan clutch ( fluid coupling ). What was the outside ambient?

Gotcha. Thanks guys. It was about 85 today i think. Not too hot. Its weird cause both ways it made it 10 miles and stayed right at half way mark. Then like all of the sudden it started creeping up. I turned the heat on to keep it at bay. I popped the hood. No bubbles in reservoir. Didnt check the radiator but when I had it open other night it looked ok to me. I have driven it back and forth to Oklahoma twice, stop and go traffic in Dallas and it does great. It just dont like that trailer!!
