Gday,

Im looking at a 92 VX limited that is in need of some TLC, and am working out if it is worth my effort to buy and fix.

She had a new engine put it 5thou ago has done 204,000 km its a 3FE running dual fuel. factory lockers ff/rr :D and rear aircon
auto, sunroof drink/beer cooler

what is wrong :crybaby:
2 snaped wheel studs in the pass side, how easy/pricey is this to fix?
speedo and odo are disconected again easy and cost to fix
rear aircon seems to be missing the pipe from side of car to roof cant describe any better than that.
rear pass window not working could just be siezed motor as car had been unused whilst engine was gone and then replaced
no stereo
window tint home job needs to be removed
little surface rust on roof and front 3/4 but easily touched up

otherwise very good depending on how much those would cost it could be a very good deal.

Are there any aussie sites i could visit and find out priceing from?

Otherwise , all seems like easy and basic things to fix.
Personally think you should be looking at a diesel engine though.
Best 80 series going is a base model 93 HZJ80 painted white.
Customise at your own pace.

A diesel isnt really in my price range and im more than happy with LPG and this is a very cheap cruiser that needs a bit of work.

Is very cheap under 10,000 beer tickets?
If yes then probably a good buy.
Most of those things you can fix your self.

Its hard to know with out knowing the buying price. I think I would be more concerned about checking the diffs and gearbox/transfer case, axles etc. Also if it has been raised at all make sure there are no cracks or welds adjacent to where the steering box is mounted. Also how much longer is the gas tank ok for? Has it been certified ?If you ask this type of question it is easier to answer if we know which states rego nazi's you are dealing with.cheers.

I'd be a bit worried about who's worked on this thing. Some of what you described paints the picture of PO who does a very sloppy job but also has no fear. I wonder if the same guy who did the other damage also installed your engine....

I had thought about that, but a rep workshop did the work and he has the recepts to prove that.. really the driveline/engine is in great nic the rest of the car needs some work which im happy to do, paint is pretty good.
