My 4Runner will be coming for sale soon. It’s a hard decision to sell “Runner”. It’s been in the family since new. I’m the 2nd owner. My father purchased new from the dealership. It had been the general managers for a while as a demo vehicle.

But with the addition of my son and traveling with a Great Dane, it’s just too small. I will be on the hunt for a Land Cruiser or Land Rover Defender 110.

Runner is an SR5 Model with the V6 3.0 Auto with optional leather. Adult owned. I'm 42. 189,600 miles on the clock. Most of which my father put on it driving for work and not off road. I got it back in 2004 with 160k.
I’ve got a lot of service records. A majority of the service for its life had been done at the dealership. I had them print as much of the service records out as possible, but some of it is missing since their system purged.

I had a 1st generation and my father wanted a new vehicle. Since he didn’t want to sell and keep in the family, I sold the 1st generation and acquired his mint condition 2nd generation.

It was completely stock when I got it, and I wanted to make it into an Overland vehicle.
It’s had all the normal routine maintenance done. With the exception of a few items that came up over time. Head gasket was replaced, the fuel injectors, throttle body, etc were replaced.

Now to present time. The truck is in awesome shape. I’ve always really taken care of my vehicles. It’s never been beat or in difficult off trails. Camping, snow runs, overland Eastern Oregon on 1 track, 2 track roads is about it. I don’t believe in going somewhere that will cause damage.
Here is a description broken down.

Exterior:
8.5 of 10. (Only one minor quarter sized ding on hood from a rock tossed up in front of me.) Body is straight and paint is in fantastic condition. Lots of depth and shine. One minor issue with the driver’s side door paint. Someone must have opened their white door into my door. Didn’t cause a ding, but left a white mark. My father tried to rub it out while I wasn’t aware and must have used something that caused a small blemish. It’s small. Glass has a few scratches and the front windshield has a few rock chips. Not cracks. Windows are tinted. Front receiver hitch installed for receiver winch. Driver side front running board mud guard has a crack. Too much snow built up and cracked it.
It has a Toyota hood deflector, chrome grill, stock front and rear bumpers, and original running boards. I always wanted to get rid of them, but my wife wouldn’t let me. I recently put a roof rack on it. This model didn’t come with one so I had a Thule roof system installed and I mounted a Thule MOAB basket with extension. It’s practically brand new.

Interior:
7 of 10. The driver’s seat is showing wear on the bolster. It has a small tear along the seam from getting in and out. It was fine, until my larger friend got in and stretched it beyond anymore than it could take. Dash and carpet are perfect. All the leather is in really great shape. It’s the grey leather. All instruments work, dash lights, dome lights, etc. I have a custom built cargo gate to keep my Great Dane from launching forward in case of emergency stop.

Suspension:
4” custom lift. Components from Pro Comp, OME, and Daystar. 4Wheel parts did the lift. It has progressive springs in the rear which are heavier duty for loads and the ride is really good with the progressive spring rate. Shocks in rear are brand new. I had the lift done originally in 2008, but wasn’t happy with the rear and it had it completely redone last year 2011.
Running gear:
4:88 gears, Detroit locker in the rear with Lockrite Locker in the front. Warn manual hubs. New u-joints. 16” wheels with Toyo MT’s 285/75/16 with 90% tread. New rotors and brakes.

Electrics:
Upgraded HID headlights.
Dual battery (Optima red top and yellow top with isolator switch in cab) Just completed last year 2011. Front and rear pig tail for remote receiver winch.
Remote power socket in rear cargo area. I used this for my fridge.
Recently replaced the tailgate motor. Works really well now.

Engine/Transmission
Runs fantastic. Had a complete tune last summer before our week long expedition to remote Eastern Oregon. Sparks plugs, wires, fuel filter. Recharged the AC and replaced an AC hose. Had the fuel system cleaned. Replaced the K&N tube filter and put a sock on it to keep dust out. Exhaust was replaced a few years ago cat back. 2.5”. Transmission shifts great. The shift lever needs a new bushing so the handle is a little loose.

So I’d sell it today, but as I drove it home the other day, the crank seal decided to let go. So I need to have the crank seal replaced and while I’m at it, will replace the timing belt, water pump, tension pulley and most likely the cam seals and belts.

Wow, I think that’s it. I trust it anywhere. Especially with the work I’m about to have done to it.

Contact me at anthonywerre@gmail.com. If you want to offer without me replacing the seal and belt, I'm open, but I'd feel better having it all done. I'm probably going to spend a little over 1K to get all the work done.

Thanks for looking. I am hoping to have it available end of April. I have a extended trip that will delay me getting it fixed.
