Knock sensor wire goes to the ECU where the signals are processed into something it can make sense of. you need to check for continuity between the knock sensor plug and the appropriate pin on the ECU.

If you don't have an electrical wiring diagram I can help out later in the day. Make sure you note what year the truck is, and if a 95, whether it is OBD1 or 2

It's more than continuity between the knock sensor and the ECU. The aged harness can have intermittent continuity issues that come to light after the knock sensor part of the harness is touched. I had to run two new wires between the two end points in order to finally shut down the CEL.

Did you get OEM sensors or aftermarket sensors?

I'm not familiar with whether that code shows which sensor it is but if it does you could try switching the sensors and see if the code follows the change.

The small metal tab broke off at the surface of the sensor. I could possibly repair, but I'm comfortable/would rather simply buy a replacement. Won't skimp out next time. Half price was too tempting. Need to determine if it's the wiring or the sensor I bought. I thought about switching the front sensor with the back to test, but I'm afraid something would fault just by disconnecting the front. Seems fragile. Didn't take much to break the rear knock sensor connector. I thought I did a careful, good job replacing the phh, then the code popped up because I broke the sensor.

I'm not sure if your sensor is a dud so stick it in the other knock sensor location to see if a new CEL code pops up. I don't know if the knock sensor you bought is tuned for the frequency of the knocking for the 1FZ-FE. And, I could be talking out of my ass too.... They all looks the same to me!

This reminds me, I need to actually fix mine, I had to rig/wire it so it would pass inspection a few years back.

DONT' touch it!!

Dusting off an old thread - I've seen you mention this a couple of times in some knock sensor threads. When you replaced the two wires to the ECU, did you run all shielded wire? Feel like I may be in the same place you were at the time and might need to run a new wire for my #1 sensor.

No I didn't since the factory wires had no shield from what I recall. You might as well run both wires as its a PITA process and the other sensor wire is the same age!
