First I don't need to sell this but for the right price I will.
So first up my price: $15,000 and I am pretty firm on that. I would be just as happy to keep it but with two other projects waiting to be built I will sell it for $15,000.
Located in Jackson, Wyoming
I don't think it matters since this is not a stock truck but mileage is about 236,000.
1991 FJ80
-The Cruiser is dark gray with gray cloth interior.
-1997 Chevy L31 5.7L Vortec - California legal! Has sticker to prove it.
-4L60e trans from I believe the same year, ie 97
-FJ60 split case, rebuilt by Georg at Valley Hybrids, uses a Marks adapter
-FZJ80 locked axles with 4.10 gears
-Low Range Off-Road locker kits
-OME J springs in rear, not sure on fronts
-Metaltech 2" spacers in front, no stink bug, truck has about 4" lift all around.
-all new OEM bushes for the radius arms
-recent paint
-Cut and turn on front axle to correct castor, no bushes or other junk in there.
-4x new Cooper SST, 35x12.5R15
-Aisin free wheeling hubs
I have had the truck since November 1st 2013. I got it in a trade from Georg. Georg had the truck for 4-5yrs from what I understand. From what I gather, it has been a California truck all it's life until I brought it to Wyoming. It has ZERO rust on the body and frame. The axles don't even have surface rust. Chassis still has the factory paint in stellar condition.
In the 4 months I have had the truck I have DD it to work, 500 miles a week and taken two road trips in it. One road trip to Oregon (2,000 miles) and another to SoCal (also 2,000 miles). I have put about 10,000 miles on the truck since I got it. I have done a number of things to it but overall the truck has been very reliable. I have taken it wheeling in the sand dunes (it rocks in the dunes hard), snow wheeling and ran a few trails in Johnson Valley at KoH.
New parts are as follows:
-VSS sensor in the trans
-temp sender on motor
-PCV and related hoses
-OEM sun visor retain clips
-OEM DIN #2 bay
-JVC single DIN deck with iPod port in glove box and bluetooth
-OEM clamshell
-SOR dash cover, carpet
-OEM windshield washer nozzles
-OEM windshield gasket, not installed
-OEM window channel rubber, the retaining rubber at bottom of windows, x2
-wiper blades, front
-thermostat in the engine
-OEM #1 overhead interior light with LED bulb
-OEM windshield washer bottle cap
In addition to this I have changed the oil 4x since I have had the truck. The coolant is new and GM spec. The knuckles on the front axle were fully rebuilt by Georg right before I got the truck. The calipers are ground to fit 15" wheels, no issues. The exhaust system is fairly new with little to no corrosion on it, it has cats and o2 sensors. I installed the LROR E-locker kits and the lockers work very good. The truck has a pretty fresh and dark window tint on all but the front windows. The truck has 1-2yr old paint, it is in good shape and looks good. It has got some chips since I brought the truck to Wyoming. Brakes are all good and the e-brake works well.
The truck is no speed demon but has plenty of power for it's weight. I weighed it and it sits empty at 5200lbs. On the road trips the truck easily holds 75mph with rpms at about 2,000. It will pull up hills on the HWY at that speed no problems and this is at 6,000ft elevation. I towed a small camp trailer with it and could hardly even feel it back there, trailer was maybe 1,800lbs. In the sand dunes this truck is a ton of fun and does very well in the dunes. The engine is rated at 250hp and 330ftlbs. It starts every time easily even in sub-zero. It idles super smooth, revs well, burns zero oil, makes no bad noises, knocks/pings/ect. There is zero cooling issues and the temp never moves on this truck, the oil pressure is also stellar. The exhaust system is not loud but does have some throat if you stomp on it, in other words it is obvious it has a v8. I do not know mileage on the engine. One very nice thing about this engine is that it engine brakes very well. If coasting the truck will engine brake on it's own by cutting fuel. If you down shift it also brakes sweet. I can descend down a 10% grade pass in 2nd and not even touch the brakes the whole time.
The 4L60e trans shifts nice and tight, no issues at all. It uses the stock FJ80 trans shifter and the stock FJ80 trans cooler. The t-case shifts like new and an early shifter cover was used to keep it looking clean. Steering is good to go, no groans off-road and no leaks. It uses the Saginaw pump and the stock FJ80 box. A/C works but seems to need a re-charge. Other work was performed by Georg while he owned the truck including new dizzy, new alt, new spider injector and a few other things. I have cleaned and put dialectic grease on every electrical connection I have seen on the truck.
I truck has a Viper alarm but I do not use it.
The bad:
-windshield leaks in heavy rain, note: only in heavy rain, I have a new OEM gasket for it. It has also got some chips, I have been quoted $125 for a new windshield with the OEM gasket. .
-p/w are slow in the cold, I figure new window channels will fix that. $65/each from Toyota
-No back up lights, I have a new Lokkar back up light switch I have not installed yet, probably install it in the next few weeks. I test fit it and it is good to go.
-Slight damage to lip of front LHS fiberglass flare.
-A/C could use a re-charge
-RHS outside mirror shakes, wire tie fix it! Mirrors are not power.
-Dash cap is cracked but don't even notice it with the new SOR cover.
-Drivers seat is showing it's wear but is not collapsed and is still comfy. All other seats good and I have 3rd row.
-Smog stains on interior, mostly headliner around grab handles and welting on doors and a few interior panels. It cleans off good with the Magic Eraser but is something I was saving until spring to do the full job on it.
-No full sized spare, stock 31x10.5 Desert Dueler.
-Trans indicator in dash does not work, same for a few other of the indication lights in the dash. Aftermarket dash mounted check engine light and charging lights which do work. High beam, e-brake and seat belt lights do work in dash.
-The engine weeps in a few places, no drips under the truck just weeping at a few locations. ZERO other weeping or leaks on the rest of the truck, again it leaves no drips under it.
-Tach is iffy, it works up to 2500ish rmps, not sure how reliable it is. It bounces around after 2,500rpms. Cheap fix with a $100 tach calibration kit from Dakota Digital or Advanced Adapters.
The Cruiser gets 11mpg if you are on it a lot, like in the sand dunes. It gets 12-14 the rest of the time and 14mpg is pretty standard on the HWY. It has a range of about 250 miles, the low fuel light does work.
The suspension is from what I gather 2005. Shocks are dated 2005. It is all OME, again J springs in the rear, likely mediums in front. I installed Metaltech 2" spacers in front to get rid of stink bug, it sits about 1* from level after the spacers. OME shocks all around and OME stabilizer. Extended SS rear bake line, it could use one in the front. It has extended sway bar links.
A few pictures are a couple months old from before drop brackets removed from radius arms and new SSTs installed.
PM me.
Cheers
