Hey Guys ,

I've read in several places on the forum that the 15x7 stock rims / wheels from 92 FJ80s series would not be able to fit on an older FZJ 80 models because of the axles? or Brake pads? Is there any possible way to make these wheels fit a FZJ 80? Just happen to personally like this style below than the newer stock rims.

The 91-92 rims won;t fit the newer 93-97 FZJ due to disc brake calipers UNLESS you use spacers. Then that becomes a whole different issue. It's because the 91-92 rims are 15" and the 93+ are 16".

You can find Tacoma rims that look similar and are 16", but I think they have a different backset.

What is the main issues with using the spacers? Also with the 15x7 is there a size limit to how big of a tire you can run with those? Wouldn't want to run anything bigger than a 35.

Spacers are another place to have a failure. You increase the lever arm distance from the hub, which also changes your alignment and steering conditions. You MAY have more interference with spacers when running 35's at full stuff. I'm not the expert on that part, but the rest is well documented on this forum.

Most 80 owners have swapped to the 93-97 style wheels due to more availability and ease of upgrades.

You can still buy lots of monster tires for 15"......

The best way would be to swap in a semi float rear axle. There is likely someone close to you that would trade even up?

Never much liked spacers, it always seemed that my customers who used them, had more wheel bearing problems then customers who run the same model of truck without spacers. YMMV
