WHOA!!!

Findley toyota in flagstaff, az wants 1200 bucks just for the labor and fluids. Another 723.oo for the water pump and timing belt.

Gonna keep shopping around town. Any thoughts on what I should pay for the job if I get parts from Dan?

thanks

Unfortunately, ~ 2K is about right based on what I've read so far. Let us know where you end up. I'm at 70K and already dreading the 90K service bill.

I feel a little less ripped off now. I spent $1300 at Right Toyota in Scottsdale AZ for my 60k service plus new pads front & rear.:meh: Oh, and a new drive belt.

I still think I should've shopped around a bit, but oh well. This Land Cruiser habit isn't and never will be cheap. :steer:

do the fluids yourself. they're easy enough. I had the timing belt and serpentine ($450.00) done at 118k and am at 136K now, a little over a year later and the original water pump is still fine.

If you are able to perform simple tasks like changing fluids, I would have the dealer do the dirty work (timing belt, water pump and maybe change the ATF) and you do the rest (all fluids, repack front wheel bearings, change A/C and air filters, clean TB). This goes for any car and will save you a bundle in the long run.

Changing the ATF is as easy as oil. Unscrew plug, watch it drain, reinstall 5 qts ATF.

Thats all the dealership will be doing anyway.

I see jim_Chow mention repack front bearing. Is that part of 90K service? Does that means if I bring my TLC into Toyota dealer and ask for 90K service, the repack front bearing is included in the price? I am at 87K now, I better start saving up for 90K service!

Thanks!

Steve
