Selling a nice 88 XCab Toy truck here in northeast PA. I owned this truck for years, sold it to Chris Breton two years ago, and bought it back this year when Chris had to get rid of it to start college. It's a good truck-always was absolutely dependable for me and there's no reason it won't be for you. It's a V6 5 speed, has plenty of power, starts and runs well and throws no check engine light. All gauges read well and the truck never overheats. Mileage is somewhere in the 186,000 range. The truck has no leaks that I know of- engine oil, gear lube, or coolant. Drivetrain (except for front axle) is stock and original and the axles have 4.10 gears. Running gear works very well- tranny in all gears, transfer case in all ranges, and front and rear axles are very good. Brakes are front discs and work fine with a full firm pedal. Handbrake works.
All accessories work fine, this is an SR5 truck but has manual windows and door locks. Red outside with a rust free black bed from a 91 truck. All lights work, intermittent wipers work, horn works, heater works great, and it has a very good Pioneer supertuner stereo very neatly installed in the stock location with new antenna and excellent speakers. Interior is nice, driver seat showing some wear. It's the real nice top of the line SR5 bucket seat interior with console. Doors have vent windows. Lots of room behind the seats in this Xcab truck. Has a sliding rear window. Rides good, handles well, and has no bad squeaks, rattles, or wind noise. All gauges work although the gas gauge jumps around at anything less than 3/4 tank. Exhaust system is intact and noise free.
John Merkey did the SAS conversion and his work and welding is exceptional. The axle came from an 84 truck and the knuckles were gone over at the time of the installation. I think an All-Pro kit was used with 4" spring lift front and back. It has high steer arms on it and everything works quite well. The truck articulates extremely well while retaining good road manners. The knuckles were cut and turned and the front driveshaft flange points to the transfer case output. This thing has the good Bilstein shocks with separate reservoirs. It has the real good Aisin manual hubs. Front bumper is kinda custom and looks decent. It sits pretty high and I tried the 35's from my piggy on it for size and it looked mean as hell.
Right now it sports five like new 31x10.50 BFG All Terrains on chrome FJ60 wheels. The truck has plenty of power with that size tire although when Chris wheeled it at Rausch he was running 33's. It can take up to 35's (maybe bigger) without hitting. The front axle uses the All Pro wheel spacers, they work well and have never come loose. The driveshaft is a long slip joint custom made by Tom Woods, it's the right length and worked great on the trail. Chris told me there is a vibration at highway speeds coming from the front driveshaft in 4WD high but I haven't run it at road speeds. It might need a double cardan joint at the transfer case end- I don't know.
Has a dent in the passenger door and a dent in one side of the bed. There is a small rust through spot on the driver front fender (replacement fenders are $30 or so). Grille and all that stuff like lights are in good shape. I have $2200 invested in the truck (bought for $2000 and the tires cost me $200) and $2200 is my price. I will knock off $100 if you don't want the stereo and speakers. This is a turn key purchase that has the original jack and tool kit behind the seat. Buy it and drive it. It's an unmolested truck that runs well and wheels very well. I'm in northeastern PA not too far from Rausch Creek. Have a clear PA title in my name. Here's a link http://picasaweb.google.com/wbi.billsmith/CMCC2008# to a site that has a bunch of shots of Chris wheeling the truck at this years Coal Mine cruiser Classic (along with a lot of other pictures from that event) I will also go into the Appalachain Club forum and get a link to some photos of the truck wheeling at rausch. It hasn't been beat at all- it's a good vehicle. Shmukster (Gary S)
