PRICE $15,000 US - New Mexico truck born and raised - Purchased and driven back to Vancouver, BC in Spring 2012 - Body and frame ABSOLUTELY rust free - Suspension redone - Man A Fre 5" Shackle reverse with U bolt flip kit - Front and rear seals done - ARB front bumper added with winch, KC auxilliary , and WARN fog lights. Wagongear tailgate lid added. Black tuffy console added. New windshield added. BF Goodrich 33x 10.5 added to pristine original rims. Slotted front rotors added. Frame still factory black paint but rustbullet and rubberized coating added for future protection against "Canadian winters." DONE WITH CARE - EXHAUST/BRAKE/FUEL LINES unfastened to get the future trouble areas completely.
RELIABILITY - Purchased in NM and driven back to BC in April. Above work then done. Road trip back to California in September. Halfway down in Oregon had a small coolant leak. Added sealant and kept going. (Toyota trust...) No issues all the way down and back. Got transferred for work in March 2013. Driven across northern States (3 days of salt exposure) to Windsor, Ontario just over the border from Detroit, MI. (Still no further rad leak issues) Salt activated very small amount of surface rust on suspension and underbody. Nothing major. Fluid film rust prohibitive added to counteract and then it went into a professional body shop to get the old sun beaten New Mexico paint redone. (As well as a few dings and scratches) Rocker guard protectant sprayed on the first 10" up on the rockers, fenders, and rear quarters. Hardly noticeable. Nothing coarse or rough like a rhino liner finish. Good look and a good extra layer against "Canadian winters." Paint finished in Oct 2013 and the cruiser went into climate controlled storage and has only been out 1 month since. Since I've owned the cruiser I put approximately 14,000 miles on it. Only about 200 in the last 18 months. The future plan had a 12ht diesel 5 spd going into it but due to my work, it has another 2 years of storage in it's future. Additionally I may have made the mistake of making this cruiser "too pretty" to subject to destructive Canadian winters. I cringe when I think of rust bubbles starting over the rear wheel wells one day....
IT NEEDS - 1)Rear cargo panels (ordering wagongear panels was the plan as the tailgate lid looks and works great but didn't get around to it due to the storage situation...)
2)Pioneer CD in it with 2 front and 2 rear 6x9's but the radio itself is not fastened in the dash as I was still deciding if it was going to stay in the dash or move it to the tuffy console - everything works though
3)A/C worked but later quit (didn't care though as my other cruisers never had it)
FLAWED - 1)Classic driver seat tear beginning - No foam showing yet but the white fabric is showing
2)WARN fog lights weren't functioning properly after putting it back together after paint - no time to troubleshoot as I had to get back to my job and get the cruiser back in storage
3) And of course the engine compartment soooooooo needs a diesel!
WORTH NOTING - 1) Brown dash pad is painted matte black to match the black tuffy console. Sounds crazy I know! I was worried when I tried it but I immediately liked it and nothing has changed. Lots of compliments from cruiserheads.
If you're looking for a solid cruiser as a daily driver or one to do a diesel project, this is it.
PIC #1&2 - Suspension added - but old paint/ PIC #3 - Suspension/ PIC #4 - Rear frame/ PIC #5 - New paint.......More body pics if you request - I took good shots of the body pre-paint to show that it wasn't a rust bucket or misrepresented in any way.
To contact me - joeray1018@gmail.com I live and work in the Canadian High Arctic where the net is kinda slow and MUD takes too long to upload. Email for questions. I don't have any interior pics. All I can say is that I doubt you are pickier than I am and I say that the interior is MINT. Headliner/seats/carpet all great. Just remembered that the doors, rear quarters, and lower tailgate were done with dynomat light. The door(s) sound great and solid when closed. Also the rear cargo arear has rubber matting. Stamped metal pattern. Thanks for reading.
