I have 85 PICK-UP with starter problems i need help

I have a 85 pick-up with a solid front axle and a 22re motor. when i go to turn over my truck the selinoid just clicks. the battery has plenty of juice i cleaned the grounds and replaced the starter twice, and the starter works when i jump it... CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH MY PROBLEM

Does not make sense....


If it works when you jump it, you have battery issues man...
 
my 4runner did this for a while. i'd tap the bendix cap on the starter to get it to work. I ended up disconnecting all the wires from the started and cleaning up the connectors. put it back together and never had another problem

Not all of the time. Could very easily be a corroded ground and the "jump" is resolving that issue. Could be a bad battery too but do not rule out grounds. They are extremely important when it comes to the starter circuit.

Most auto stores will test out the battery so easy diagnosis there.
 
I figured out the problem

Well first i meant i was directly jumping the starter from the positive terminal to the relay point.. I figured out that it was just bad starters i was getting got new one directly from toyota works great.... DONT GO TO AUTO ZONE OR PEP BOYS FOR STARTERS THEY SUCK.....
