Posting this to see if there are any opinions on the Odo claim. Seller is claiming 63K miles.

The Carfax for this rig is without question the least useful I have ever seen. Two entries. Never seen such a thing. Seller hasn't posted any records supporting the mileage claim.

My BaT account is moderated, so most of my questions and comments do not get published. I am extremely curious about how the seller can support this mileage claim. But TBH, after one day, the bidding has already reached BaTshyte crazy levels, considering this is a repaint and doesn't appear to have any records.

Many of us are familiar with this flipper. He enjoys a fair amount of notoriety due to being featured once on Leno's utube channel.

Yeah I don’t get how it jumped to already $30k.
No service records or paper trail to confirm the mileage.
Lots of details that could of been addressed.
Mud flaps could of been cleaned and painted, fender flaps could of been replaced, chrome moulding inserts could of been re used or at least put some black ones on. Smog sticker and hose routing stickers removed from passenger side fender well. It’s says new OME suspension but yet says it’s still running on stock suspension. So are shocks considered just the suspension. Yes it has a nice paint job and some cladding. How about pics of it of how it looked prior to it’s paint restoration.
Knuckles re-packed ? TRE’s are the funky.

Seller never claims the miles are actual. Just that it is showing that many miles

It's a curated auction.
If the seller does not believe that the miles are actual, then there is an obligation to disclose that fact. Or indicate TMU. This isn't some rusty Civic going across the block at Manheim. Serious money is about the change hands.

Why isn't the re-Titling in 2017 on the Carfax? What about the smog testing?

Does anybody have access to Autocheck to run a comparative report?

EDIT: Can't say that I've ever seen a BaT auction that doesn't include a clear picture of the instrument cluster/Odo.

EDIT2: BaT finally published my comment/question about documentation.

yreah this auction is fixed.
There are players in this auction that have something going on to drive the price up!
The last guy with the $30k bid just recently joined and he placed a $24k bid on the last truck icontoys put up on BAT.
Yeah I don’t see a lot of documentation on this vehicle.

Thanks for pointing out the auction. I’ll be interested to see where this trades. Corsetti has a good reputation for solid work.

I’m always curious where lower mileage 60’s trade. I feel like I’m in no mans land with 116k on the clock on mine.

Thanks for your post -- I would have the same concerns you have on a truck like this. I'll get right to the point ...

1. Not sure why Car Fax doesn't show the Cali title. I attached an Auto Check report to the chain below
2. I'm currently smogging the truck again this week in case there is a cali buyer
3. The odometer had this many miles on it when I bought the truck two years ago -- It drives like a low mile truck and I never doubted the original owner's integrity. I'll take your note of getting odometer close-ups.
4. The title is in my name -- If you call me selling my collection of 12 trucks a flipper, then I guess I'm a flipper. The trucks on my site are commissioned by truck owners and I'm very clear about that.
5. I have a copy of the original title from the 1st owner... I was reluctant to post it.
6. For those of you to even suggest any auction is rigged on BaT, would be a complete slap in the face to our community. We have to hope that they are doing all they can to protect the integrity of these auctions. We rely on sites like this to get an accurate fair market value of these trucks. It's super important.

Please come and test drive the truck and you'll see how great of a rig it truly is.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to answer your questions and not attacking my character. That's why I love the Land Cruiser community so much!

So the Autocheck doesn't show any entries, either. No re-titling. No Odo readings. No smog. Nothing.

Per you comment on BaT:

Corsetti
@ace10 yes the odometer is true and accurate. I have receipts before the storage and the DMV and car fax records back up the timeline.

What are you providing to the bidders to support the claimed miles? Since you mention having the original Title, surely the PO furnished some receipts of some sort.

Aside.
I cannot fathom why the bidding has reached such levels in the absence of any documentation. It's truly irrational.

As I said, I'm working on getting pics of the odometer, and posting the original title with a mileage reading on the document.

Your last comment is an opinion you're entitled to and tells me you're not interested in bidding on this truck. Therefore, I'm honored you're taking the time to make sure these trucks are well documented and correct. I'll be following your research on other trucks in the future.

You did say there was a California Smog done to it in March 2109. Why not show that?

As I said, I'm working on getting pics of the odometer, and posting the original title with a mileage reading on the document.
...

If a Title is truly the original, then it should the miles at delivery, or perhaps when the lien was removed. It's snapshot in time. It certainly wouldn't show a progression of miles or a history of maintenance, etc.

The Title you posted on BaT isn't the "original." BTW
It was issued in 1989 and showed 58K miles. Which is 6K lower than what is claimed today.

I've looked at thousands of Carfax/Autocheck reports, and I cannot recall ever seeing anything like the blank sheets on this 60. In general, these reports aren't good for all that much, but at least there's usually a bit insight into a vehicle's history. T

Bottom Line: It sounds like you have no actual documentation to support the Odo claim other than what can been seen by looking at the cluster.

...
Your last comment is an opinion you're entitled to and tells me you're not interested in bidding on this truck. ...

You're right. I'm definitely not interested in this 60. I only buy rigs that are supported by online and paper documentation. And I have a strong preference for original condition. That's not a knock on the apparent condition of this rig.

I don't mind stitching together random bits of documentation in order to have some insight into a vehicle's history. But when there's basically nothing with which to work, I assume it's TMU.

...Therefore, I'm honored you're taking the time to make sure these trucks are well documented and correct. I'll be following your research on other trucks in the future.

No reason to be honored. I enjoy doing a little bit of digging on rigs that are on the market and sometime post PSA's here on Mud. Been doing it for quite a while. I'm especially interested when I see flippers who are selling rigs on skipped Titles or make dubious mileage claims. Or there's a pattern of fraud. Etc.

I also post rigs that are screaming values.

And I too am curious about the Smog situation.

In order to get a smog Certificate in California.
You first have to document the truck to DMV or AAA. that it is coming in from another state. You submit a bill of sale,an odometer reading, the out of state title a date when a vehicle was brought in to California.
Then you submit for a either a one day permit or two day to go have the truck smogged.
AAA or DMV will need to do a VIN inspection and a safety inspection and that it has CA/FED emission sticker.
You give them your California smog cert.
pay your fees and tax and you have a sticker and a temporary registration that said fees had been paid. Title comes in by mail.
From the plates you have on that truck now it is for a different VIN#. Last 5 VIN # digits on the registered plates don’t match the current selling Vehicle on BAT.
So this says that red truck on BAT is not currently registered in CA.
All this information you can get through CADMV.gov online services.
All you need is last 5 digits of VIN and a license number.
Sure you can say you own the trucks cause they are in your possession and you have the PO’s title. Which I am sure it is signed and not dated. But technically the PO still owns the truck.
If this truck is ever to be impounded or ticketed with them plates on it goes back to the PO.
PO can either take back the truck or show proof of release of liability.

You state that the truck is being smogged AGAIN.

When I use the search tool on the BAR website, the VIN returns the following result:

"No tests were found for this vehicle "

2025078

Additionally, when I search for more information about the 60, the Cal DMV website is showing that the plate being displayed in the BaT pictures are assigned to a different vehicle. That VIN is for a Blue/Gray 1985 FJ60.

2025133

Can you explain these two situations?

Ah, now I see what is going on. These posts are coming from a person who has been harassing me via text. At first, I applauded the research you were doing, but after doing a little more research of my own, it's clear you have had a personal vendetta against me for some time. I think the last time you got mad at me was because I gave away a free transmission to someone else and not your friend?
Unfortunately, I can't take what you're saying on this thread seriously. You haven't seen the truck, you're not interested in purchasing it, and your statements are now discredited.

I wish you luck, and as I said in my last text message to you. If you ever have a change of heart and want to meet me in person, grab a beer or hug it out, I'm all about it. Or you can continue to hate.... I'm fine with either.

Corsetti
It is not a vendetta and never has been.
I too am just looking out for anyone not being transparent about rigs they are selling.
Why is it wrong for someone to point out details and such when in fact you are doing the same thing.
We all see something different. You as well are on BAT and make you remarks. These are all constructive criticism.
I wouldn’t want to lay down a significant amount t of money on a rig that doesn’t have enough paper work to back it up. Or doesn’t have the said title.
You are not the only one who sells parts in this world. Many other people out there with parts.
Cheers

Corsetti
you go on BAT like the rest of us do and make your comments.
And I haven't seen you purchase anything.
So now the shoe is on the other foot and your calling out people for pointing out facts.

I can meet sure! No problem.
Set up a time I will be there.

I don’t hate do your thing Corsetti just be open and transparent about things as I have suggested to you.
I would still fact check you or anyone else. As they would fact check my rigs. It’s the nature of the game.
I never said your rigs where bad I only question the titles and the smog.
As you would with my rigs if I where selling.

I understand your position, and as I said in my earlier statement, I respected the research you did at the beginning. The research towards the end seemed like you were stretching a little. And from our recent history, it came across to me that it went further than "constructive criticism." For someone who isn't interested in purchasing the truck and even insinuating that I don't have the title is ridiculous. Most people in my shoes would feel the same way.

Having said that -- can we grab a beer on Friday? Culver Hotel -- 5pm? That's close to you, isn't it?

It's about time we hug this nonsense out.

Corsetti,
I’m clear as to what I say.
You’re read beyond what is said then come up with your own conclusions.
It’s not none sense.
Your having a hard time dealing with some criticism it’s ok.

Sure I’ll meet you at the Culver Hotel.
I won’t hug it out with you 😆
but sure we can sit and talk.

I welcome criticism, but not from someone who chewed me out on text two weeks ago. I guess that's the difference.

I'll be there.
