So I found a mint frame from a 82 or 84 BJ60 to replace my rotted out one :D The only rust was the rear C channel part where it was doubled up. Lots of drilling and grinding of rivets got rid of the flaking insert. finished it off by boxing in the area, should last a long time.

NICE, thats exactly what we would do at the shop.

Take out the sandwiched piece and weld in a inner support, only down side is loosing the tire carrier.

Personally I hate the tire under the truck and prefer it on the rear bumper with a swing out.

Frame

Had a busy few days. Ended up wire wheeling the frame, then pressure washing it and de-greasing it. Rigged up a temporary paint booth in my shop and cranked the wood stove:D on went to POR15

Nice project , Whats with the turbo , seems it's lost the compressor section.
And this is the second time i have seen a BJ / 3B with the oil filter can screw / thread/seal on the bottom , while my 3b's have the filter with the seal / thread on the top , Yours looks like it's upside-down to mine.
My FJ 2F engine had a filter that way , PITA to change the oil , mess.

Thanks on the compliments on the shop, I built it last year and am very happy. :)

Is that a WagonGear skidplate?- yes:D

Whats with the turbo , seems it's lost the compressor section?- swapping it out for a different one

Yours looks like it's upside-down to mine- I thought all 85+ were like this? anyway it is factory and way nicer, less mess on oil changes:doh:

OK then thats the ticket, Mine is 1984 BJ's times a few . mine is the other way around, and holds the oil in on shut down. I'm in the procedure of a little reworking to start to use EURO style oil filters + the cooler.
These dry start almost every time. What Turbo you going with LC Rob ?

Oh yes , nice clean shop , Bright is right!!

Time for an update

Ran into a few problems due to the truck being an 85 and the new frame is an 81-83. Swaped out the alum bellhousing for cast, which meant different starter, clutch slave, clutch fork. Used the earlier style crossmember. But it all went together nice, tcase is still out, working on the manual conversion :D

Sweet swap! Any better pictures of the Quarter chop? About to do that on my brothers HJ60. Did yours have all the tank breathers in the quarter as well?

rear quarters

I can snap some more pics for you. the breathers are no problem, there is just one hard line you cut and re join with a flex hose.
