I have a 1983 cj8 jeep bone stock. Im wanting to put different leaf springs under it, along with shackles. I was wanting to know what jeep year, and models would interchange. I once was told that the newer jeep leafs will fit and lift. But didnt know what make and model?

Thanks,
Ty

Anything will fit, if you want it too bad enough.

If I were you, I would check out a jeep forum for this. I'm sure there is a load of info out there.

I run a 2" skyjacker lift on my stock mint 82 CJ-8 and run 33's on it with no problem.

I have the revolving shackles up front and a detroit E-Z locker in the rear. I have taken it through the rubicon three times with no damage and no problems.

What are your plans for the CJ-8.

You can run YJ leaf springs, they are wider and will give the CJ a better ride. You will need to change the spring perches on the axles though. Then you may as well go with a spring over and some 36" tires.... then gears... then the axles are too small... upgrade axles, lockers.... Never ends does it?

You could just do a spring over and run 35's. We did a 2inch lift, 1inch shackle, SOA, and a 1inch body lift to clear 42s. I believe you have a AMC 20 in the rear, which is ok if you upgrade the shafts. We turned 33's off of one forever behind a 400horse motor. The front is most likely a dana 30. Be careful of the hubs, we blew one off with so much force it took out a windsheild in the spectators parking lot!
