I was hoping to get some opinions on this 1982 BJ42. Seller is asking 25k US. This rig has been for sale for quite some time, so I'm assuming he is asking more than it's worth. Any opinions on a fair price for a vehicle in this condition?

Much appreciated,

Eric

Haha, well I'm convinced it's too much. I was hoping to hear some opinions on what a reasonable price would be.

That looks like it could be a 25k truck to me, but there aren't enough pictures ot be sure. Could be worth anything from 10 to 25k.

I sure I've seen LHD diesels sell for that.

It is unrestored...a perfect unmolested rig.

it has about 32,000 miles on it.

it has been for sale for quite some time.

It is worth the 20-25 range.

but...without seeing any pictures of undercarrage or wheelwells...you have no idea if its worth as much as it seems.

If you are really still interested in the truck ask the owner to take some undercarrage pics and wheel well pics...and for 25k he should include a video of it running...as well as any pic you want.

for that much you may even want to go see it 1st hand

IMO

Impressive, at lease the price has come down, it was around $35,000 a couple of weeks ago. I didn't even bother looking at the posting for that price. At least there are some with money to spend in tight economic times, as prices of things come down, it makes them all that more of a good deal. I would agree with getting detailed photos of the frame, especially where it is from the wet coast.

down side to this truck is the year, 82, no PS and 4 speed. i'd say if it was a 83-84 it would sure be worth that much 25k and more.

But how much it is really worth? have you seen any truck in similar shape for sell? if so how much they want?...that is the question

A VERY slick advertising blurb and those photos look very much "hand-picked" (and perhaps even "doctored").

I've no doubt it is worth a lot. But I don't think it would sell for more than $15000NZ in this country (and would be lucky to achieve that). ($NZ15k is less than $US10k) And even then, it would probably have to sell to an overseas buyer.

I steer clear of anyone who tries to sell a vehicle while showing only what are clearly its best features (without showing you the WHOLE thing). And professional "sales-brochure-type" photos give me the biggest "keep clear" message.

Cheers
Tom

PS. I've never seen ANY 40 series cruiser sell for as much as $NZ15k here in NZ in recent times.

i saw that truck at cruiser daze in vancouver 2 years ago, it's beautiful. almost show room.
i would have no idea how to gauge the price but doesn't an icon start at about one hundred grand?
personally i would be be worried about a truck sitting undriven for so many years, can parts seize up after time?

My spidey sense is tingling with this rig. I'll likely be happier restoring one that isn't in such pristine condition. Thanks for the input and quick replies!
