Hi i have a 60 series and i don't know much about 80's.

anyway i'm writting because my brother want's to buy an 80 series. so i want some info about: 3fe engine.

is it to slow? i know that torque it's great! but i was wondering about how does the engine runs on road, hightway, etc. cause i know that off-road it's damm good!!!

another 80's engine option it's the 4500efi.

i'll like to see some opinions from ya'll 80 owners. another think it's that we live in venezuela and i'll like to know if it's to much trouble to bring the truck from us?

thank's and sorry if y english s$%cks.

you want to bring a US 80 into Venezuela???
now that's got to be a first.

no worries on the english...most native speakers here have problems with it too.

as far as bringing the vehicle in to VZLA, that's going to depend on the regulations in your country...I don't think anyone's going to stop anyone from driving out of the US in an 80.

the 3FE is generally considered underpowered for an 80 series. I would suggest a 1993-1997 (with the 1FZE engine -- the 4.5L engine).

why not simply purchase an 80 from Venezuela?

I'll be the first to meet you half way in an 80. You give me one of yours and I'll give you one of ours! :) We can even swap VIN tags and no one will be the wiser.

I guess it's true...the grass IS always greener. ;)

It's a great highway car. Nice to be up high and see over the traffic.

You should do some investigation about getting the truck over the US/Mexico border. Unless you can register the truck in some US state, you will be driving "someone else's" truck over the border from the point of view of the US authorities.

Would they stop you? I don't know. But I bet it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine car thieves create counterfeit bill of sale documents in case they get stopped at the border. Maybe there is some kind of temporary registration or export permit that will save you the money and hassle of actually registering the car in the US.

Good luck! I bet there are a lot of guys in the US who would consider driving the car down for you!

In Venezuela the 80's is very very expensive u can also buy a 80 series from factory, i mean brand new because we are still producing the 80 and 70's series :D

But the 91-92 80 (3FE) good, for off-road and on-road, is it fast? does it has enough torque?

the 3FE powered trucks are fine until you modify them add 33" + tires and you will have a slower engine than most would like. I love mine but admit it would be nice to have a bit more power.

the 80 brand new here in venezuela u can buy it for like 50k $ so it 's to expensive, and if u buy it used the cheapest u can find for like 17k $. He doesnt want a ferrari but he wants it to be much more faster than my 2F Fj60. That central diff lock how does it works? is it good?

Two ways - first, the center diff locks automatically when you shift the transfer case into low range. Second, you can lock the center differential with a button on the dash (not a standard option - costs about $50 and is easily wired). It is very helpful.

Why would you want to get an old US 80 when you can get a new FZJ78/79/71 (2 or 4 door or pickup) in Venezula w/ 5spd manual, rigid front axle, diff locks, and NEW 1FZ engine w/o all that leather and electronic gizmos? People here would kill to have one. I imagine the 2-door w/ 1FZ w/ have decent accleration.

The brand new ones around here run about $55K and good used ones (1997) between $13K and $17K. Besides I am sure you will have to pay some import taxes and grease "a lot of hands" before getting the truck into the country, so by the time you get to drive the truck you are paying for transportation fees, import fees and brives you may end up expending more than if you have gotten a local truck. I wish I could get me a 2005 FZJ80 like the ones the one they still sell in Venezuela.

Because here in Venezuela the old fzj80 cost around 17k $ and brand new 50k $ and i do not have that amount fo money, the fzj71 cost around 27k $ it is too expensive. And believe me if i had the money i would buy it!!!
