Installing a 1987 2F from a 60 series in a 70s FJ40. I ordered, and installed, a new cylinder head cover (valve cover) gasket PN 11213-61011. But now I’m wondering. The gasket cross section is the shape of “l” and sort of snaps in the cover (I added a touch of sealant to make sure the rear stayed put). I’m used to the inverted “T” cross section gasket which appears to offer more sealing surface.

So am I using the correct gasket? Are all the 80s 2F gaskets like this? Or should I use a different PN?

Thanks....

that should take 11213-61011

Sounds like its correct then.

I just put a couple spots of sealant in the back of the valve cover to ensure the gasket stayed put during assembly.

just dont over-tighten the 4 grommets hex nuts , moderately snug is good

The 3FE manual has 78 in lb listed (6.5 ft lb). I stopped before that as that seemed too much. I see now those are different part numbers.
