Now there's some secret squirrel s*** for ya...can I be third in line?
I've toyed around with the idea of putting a supercharger on the 1FZ and having the motor reworked to the extent needed to support that. For the money, though, a V8 swap would probably be better all around.
I'm really looking forward to this conversion. In spite of the fact that a 100 has more creature comforts and does virtually everything better than an 80, I still prefer the way an 80 drives (well, at least on a flat road....but that's the reason for the V8 swap)As DNP said, Rob (offroadlimo) has done extensive research on this subject.
I have bounced around the idea of the 4.7 tundra V8.. but the cost and the HP compared to a 6.0 or even a 5.3 make the chevy swap a no brainer. Aftermarket support and parts availability blow away the 4.7. Plus they're pretty reliable motors. Rob even knows how to make the 6.0 bullet proof. This is what the 80 lacks.
