Comparison between 36x15.50R16 mickey thompson Atz & 345/75R16 BFG KM2.
Obviously the KM2s are narrower and taller.
KM2s ride very smooth and balanced nicely. Quietest mud terrain I have ever owned. The quietest is still the procomp X terrain. But i am pleased.
The width of the rim seems perfect for the KM2. Bfg reccommends a 9.5- 12 inch (min-max) width rim. The 16x10 i have fits perfect and doesnt crown the tire. Nice flat foot print on the street.

Surprisingly the max load on the 345 KM2 tires is 3700lbs and has a load range D !
The 315 KM2 have a max load of 3k ( load range D as well).
The load range E tires ( 265 mickey thompson atz plus) that are going on my tow rig are rated at 3450.
Maybe ill put the 345s on my tow truck ; )

Chris at 49 tire is the man! He hooked me up!

Already looks better! Are both of those tires unmounted in that SxS pic?

km2 is mounted.

Keep in mind the original idea when i first put the wide tires on was for an arctic truck look. which i loved the look of.
I wanted a lighter and little taller more aggressive tire tread and the KM2 fits the bill. the width of the tires made up for a lack of aggressive tread design. Although the ATZ tread design is between and all terrain and a mud terrain. voids between lugs are near the width of a mud terrain.

The ATZ did great on rocks. I just wanted a little more aggressive tread design since some of the wheeling destinations we are traveling to in the future have a mix of mud and rock... on the same trails. Better all around tire for more variables in terrain.

I need to get some new tires too...I need to mount my MTR's on the beadlocks and get some new AT's for daily driving...of course that all depends on Champion finishing my wheels.

Check your brake lines

I went on an unexpected offroad adventure today, about rolled and almost took out a camry. While traveling down HWY 80 at 45mph light turned red camry in front of me stopped I hit the brakes started slowing down then heard a pop and the pedal went to the floor which left me with the decsion to plow over the camry in front of me or take a right hand turn at about 20-25 mph on 40's. For fear of seriously hurting the folks in the camry I choose the latter. I immediatly pulled the e-brake put the shifter in 1st clinched the steering wheel. Here comes the turn. Here I go. Felt like I took the turn on 2 wheels but to my amazement I did not go over. The cruiser slowly came to a stop and I got out to see WTF happened. Found the Man-A-Fre stainless steel brake line had ruptured on the passenger front. Did not come apart at the fitting but split on the side. No signs of rub through from the tire. I limped it to the house where it now sits with no brake fluid and a puddle under the truck. Does anyone know of a local source that they trust to make a replacement? Moral of the story is just because you have upgraded to a stronger part doesn't mean it wont ever fail. Check yo **** before you wreck yo ****.

Wow Rob, glad you are ok......and the camry isn't a pancake

whew!
I think some of the T100 and first gen tundra lines fit the cruiser as "longer" lines.... I'd check autozone/adavanced for one of those.

Ill check those lines out tomorrow. Thanks for the info.

Braided stainless steel brake lines are NOT a good idea for off-road vehicles UNLESS there is a coating to keep dust/dirt out of the braid. The dirt can work its way into the braid and wear the brake line out from the inside. A friend researched this issue (which he tended to do).

well, with regards to Man it ain't Fre and brake lines. I bought their stainless exteneded lines for a 91. The first batch was not correct even though the stickers on the lines stated they were. It took 30 minutes convincing them of this and not charging me a restocking fee and sending out the correct ones. They did acknowledge that it was the wrong line once they received it though. HOWEVER, the lines I received were SAE and not metric. Sadly I did not discover that until I had pulled mine off. So my frame bracket had to be filed for the new line to fit in it. I called them and told them that... didn't believe me again.

The only issue is that I need the line to be longer than 2 1/8" on passenger front. I'm just going to get a set from Christo at slee. They seem like a better choice due to the fact that unlike man-a-fre's they have a protective layer. They also seem larger in diameter compared to the man-a-fre's. Im sure it was a freak thing but not being able to stop a 6500lb was scary as hell. If anyone is interested I will have a left front and a rear man-a-fre line available.
