JUST PURCHASED A DRIVER SEAT BOTTOM PAD AND NEW LEATHER BOTTOM FROM TLC CRUISER FOR MY 1997 LC. I AM AT THE POINT WHERE I HAVE SEPARATED THE BACK REST FROM THE SEAT BOTTOM, BUT IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE PAD, THE SERVICE MANUAL SHOWS FOUR BOLTS THAT HAVE TO BE REMOVED. TWO OF THE BOLTS ARE RIGHT IN FRONT, BUT THE SIDE BOLTS LOOK LIKE THEY ARE ACCESSIBLE VIA SEAT FRAME HOLES THAT ARE NOT LINED UP WITH THE BOLT HEADS. ANYBODY OUT THERE WHO RECOVERED THEIR DRIVER SEAT AND WHAT DID YOU DO TO GET THESE SIDE BOLTS REMOVED?????

plug the seat back into electrical and align the holes with your sitch

PLUGGED SEAT IN AND BY ACTIVATING THE SEAT LOWERING SWITCH, THE BOLT HEAD CAME RIGHT INTO THE FRAME HOLE CIRCLE.

THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!

HEY HOW HARD WAS IT TO DO THIS REPLACEMENT? I HAVE A NEW OEM SEAT BOTTOM SITTING IN MY GARAGE I HAVEN'T GOTTEN AROUND TO REPLACING YET SO LET US KNOW HOW IT WENT - THX!!!!

FINDING OUT THAT THE RECOVER JOB S A BITCH AND IT TAKES ALOT OF PATIENCE. I AM HAVING A HARD TIME GETTING THE
INITIAL CENTER SEAM DOWN FAR ENOUGH IN THE PAD TO APPLY THE HOG RINGS TO CATCH BOTH HANGER WIRES
THE REST LOOKS EASIER. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED

I HAVE NEVER DONE IT BUT COULD YOU GET SOME STRING OR WIRE ON IT AND USE THAT TO PULL IT THROUGH?

Use zip ties.
Before putting leather to pad, slide the zip tie under the metal rod in the cushion - leaving them open.
Slide the metal dowel in the sleeve of the leather cover. Cut slits in the sleeves in approximatellocations of the zip tie.
Very important to cut the slits between the dowel and where the sleeve mates to the cover.
Fish one end of the zip tie thru the slit and loosely join the two ends.
Repeat this process throughout the seat cushion.
Once all points are done, begin to stuff and pull the zip ties until tight. Cut off the excess.
I just finished my two front seats and this method worked like a dream.
Now back to working on my review of landcruiserheaven.com leather kits...
