Hi all, have recently purchased a 1fz 80 series. Couple of questions with it, it will puff a little bit of blue smoke on start if it has been sitting for at least an hour or two, but nothing when revving or under load. Is this likely to be the pcv valve or something else. Next question, the central locking, not a fob, just key in the door, it will lock the two front doors, the rear passenger door but not the rear drivers door or rear hatch. Also the key does not fit into the passenger door hole but fits into the drivers door.
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks :)

Blue smoke on startup is valve seals.
Blue smoke on acceleration is rings
Blue smoke on deceleration is valve seals.

If you run hard, keeping the rpm at speed over 3000 RPM you will find it will drink the oil.
If you slow it down to run about 2400-2600 you may burn no oil at all. Has to do with pumping a large amount of oil on top of the head and not draining back in time. The PCV will suck it out and burn it.

The two rear and gate door locks need cleaned and serviced. They should normally lock with key if all is well.
Passenger door lock has probably been replaced or your key is heavily worn and not engaging.

I suggest first to get a fresh dealership cut key from the VIN then that becomes your master you have all other keys cut from.

Oh, and what year is your truck?

She's a 1996.
Just did a 3 hour road trip back home after buying it, didn't burn any oil that was sitting at 2300rpm for most of the way.
Thanks, i'll look at getting a shop to do the valve stem seals.

Find out if the head gasket has ever been done. May make a difference on how to approach it.
If done in the last 150K miles with Toyota parts,, do it in frame and don't pull the head.
If no records of HG replacement pull the head and have fully checked and new seals installed along with every vacuum hose, coolant hose and rubber parts under the hood.
Clean the upper intake manifold for the EGR stuff.
