Hi all
My passenger side front wheel is making that noisey brake squeal sound.
I had a look and there is 5mm of pad left , time to change them ?
What else could the squeal be ?

thanks

Have you check to see that it has 5 mm on BOTH the inner and outer pads? Also check the rear pads as the direction of the noise can be deceiving. My rear pad wears faster than the front on my stock 80.

According to the FSM replace front pads at 4mm, rear pads at 1mm.

If you're talking about the brake squeal that the wear indicator makes then that doesn't surprise me at all. Those little pieces of metal to make un-godly noise are not precision things, you can just bend them so they hit whenever. New ones I've seen appear to hit at about what you mentioned, even though there is actually quite a bit of pad left, you could pull the pad and rip it off, or bend it more if you wanted, course if you're in there you could spend the approx 30 seconds and put in new pads too.. :)

Thanks guys
I knew there was something that made a sqeal to let you know they needed replacing , but I didn't know you could bend it back , I'll have a look , probably just replace them , I haven't done it on a cruiser yet , did it on my old Hilux , may it rest in peace.

Keef,
it will take you longer to jack the truck up than to change out hte front pads.
pull the spirng clips back the pins out and po em in,
just replace them it will be easier in the end.
