can anyone give me the lowdown on adjusting e brakes ones you pulled it down and are in here?
1. do i need to fully dissassemble it? or if pad thickness looks good and you are putting on new rotors can i grease it and adjust it and close it up?
2. do you remove that big cast piece that looks like it is bolted to the axle? is it two bolts holding it to the axle? it looks like there are four back there and one is a real pain to get at?
3. how do you adjust it? i couldn't tell from the FSM how to do this? there is a nit with a sort of stop piece on the back and it seemed like you tighten or loosen the it until the stopper hits and then back off one turn or something?
4. how do you adjust the star shaped adjuster knob? do you turn it until you get some kind of diameter on the outside face of the pads?
5. do i grease anything that moves with moly? lithium? other?
THANKS

FSM seems to just say re assemble in reverse order but the disassembly doesn't seem so clear and anyways it's not so straightforward imho.
also does anyone know what the point of the match marks is? i had trouble getting the toyota off on the drivers side - granted i accidentally left the entered on so i had to take it off - but it came off fine on the passenger side when it was ON and i can't tell if i was supposed to line up "match marks" before spiking the hub and rotor or what.

so at 5:20 this guy fully disassemble the e brake because he has to do the circular pads. from the looks of it he just adjusts the star washer until it allows the rotor to slip on and not bind. i need to reread the FSM on how to adjust the nut for the stopper on the backside.
also he doesn't grease anything.
-
then he goes on to rear brakes which i summarize below.
then at 17:50 he rotates the rotor again and explains the e brake adjustment really quick.

looks like you slot those clips into the holder. grease the inside of the holders. mount the holder. then slip the pads in. then you mount the caliper which is a totally separate piece.
i guess i didn't realize the rears didn't work like the fronts.
that also explains why i thought i was missing two pair of retaining pins and a pair of retaining springs and wires...
